Very enjoyable! I am happy for a number of reasons: never even heard of Stamitz before. Great find! Also, this clarinetist sounds very good. Maybe not a Sabine Meyer, but quite good. And look at that gown! Stamitz sounds to me like one of Bach's sons, maybe Johann Christian, with a bit of Mozart mixed in. I LOVE Baroque music, probably more than any other style or period (except maybe, Jaco Pastorius' "The Chicken"). Thank you for posting.
Beautiful playing. I think Heaven must be a bit like this.

This young lady reminds me of Donna Mukoyama, 1985 graduate of East Meck, who I sat beside 7th, 8th & 9th grades in band at McClintock Jr. High. She inspired me to practice & study hard to become a wonderful clarinet player, & for her inspiration & leadership, I am eternally grateful! Donna, I hope life has brought you many blessings!

Superb modern instrument performance. I'd like to hear her on the 5-key clarinet with 2-2-1-1-1 strings, where it would be much lighter. Also, I object to the circular breathing. There are plenty of places to breathe, and eliding them runs phrases together. Nevertheless, of this kind, it's as good as it could be.

The elder Stamitz' clarinet concerto was not among the very first - I think these were written by Johann Molter a few years earlier. But it is certainly far more interesting, musically, than Molter's works, on a par with those of his son Carl Stamitz.
