I’m like that with my kids too. I feel the same way about cussing. I’d rather they learn it from me and their dad than at school. Which is how I learned because my parents were the ultra conservative type that believed “if we don’t talk about it, then it doesn’t exist” and that bit me in the ass as an adult later in life. Don’t want my kids to be like that.
@CassTeaElle6 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I think that's great. My sister does that with her kids, and when she was pregnant with the youngest one everyone always got a kick out of my other nephew saying that mommy had a baby in her "uterust."
@KatieVanHelsing6 жыл бұрын
CassTeaElle Exactly! You can talk to kids about these things and honest and not be graphic. Obviously, you don’t need to tell kids every detail at a young age, but there are respectful ways to talk to kids about these topics! :D

KatieVanHelsing Agree 100%! After you see kids having babies @ 8-10 years old (YES, I have, unfortunately & shockingly! 😱☹️), they need to be informed properly and before something like that happens! I’m glad they use proper language, instead of awful-sounding vulgar nicknames. They just need to tell them when/where/to whom it’s appropriate to talk about those things. Great job, Jared!

@AdinaIspas11 ай бұрын
I think the whole problem about “the talk” coming from parents is that it’s a very intimate topic, so after it happens, it opens this entire perspective between you and your parents that you then have to live with for goodness knows how many years in the same house. Them knowing you know and you knowing they know or are watching for signs of your experiences. In my opinion it’s better to have an “Uncle Jensen” there (who is trustworthy of course) to provide an outside space for reflection. That way you’re not gonna feel like your privacy is always gonna be open to your parents.

When I got the talk, I got it when I was 12 and I was in class and we were told maybe 2-3 months before by my teacher, he was probably the best teacher I ever had. He was also really funny. So during the time we knew he would always joke about a special guest coming in and everyone quickly thought ‘The Talk’. My 3 best friends were freaking out not wanting to know about that. So the called in the parents in the Wednesday night a week before to tell them the same thing they’ll tell us but just not as horrible. And they got a book and a cd. My parents didn’t go because we were on holidays and we got back Tuesday the next week. So the day I got back. I got the talk. And 2 woman came in and they made us draw on posters, write down, give us names for the parts and me an my 3 friends sat together. Dying of embarrassment. We also watched the cd and got a very graphic video, cartoon style of the whole thing. We also had a HUGE, talk about consent. It took 3 hours to do our talk. So at the end of the day my teacher gave me an envelope contain a book and cd. With the exact same contents we saw today with the same cartoon. I put the parcel in my kitchen on a tin that was on the corner counter. Also the talk happened at the end of the year, three day before we left. My parents also knew I was getting the talk but they didn’t know when. And they didn’t know until later that night when they found the envelope. They read the note about how the talk for the parents was happening Wednesday at 7:00 pm. And they were like ah well too late now. And I was like “are ye stupid? That happened LAST Wednesday” So my parents were about to sit me down and have the talk with me and I was like. “No way in hell! I had one talk I ain’t having another one” and just left them there and didn’t come out of my room till the next morning

I am sorry but as a childcare worker I am incredibly disheartened and angry at how that centre reacted to what Shep said. How on earth could they think it appropriate to get him in to trouble for saying 'vagina' or informing his classmates that 'babies come from the vagina'. We need to be teaching our children about their bodies and about respecting their own and others, how can we even begin to teach them if we can't even use correct terminology.

I dunno... I totally agree for the most part, but I can only imagine what a bitch fit some haughty helicopter parent would throw if they walked past a whole classroom of four year olds chanting "VAGINA, VAGINA, VAGINA, VAGINA!!!" at the top of their lungs. It's on Thursdays now. But it's pretty much been on every week night except Mondays, I think. The CW has bumped it all over the schedule over the years, and then threw it on Fridays to die around S6 or 7, I think, where it actually did better than all their other Friday shows ever did, so they bumped it back to a prime time day. Then another. And another. And then they changed it to an 8pm time instead of 9... Basically, it gets bounced all over the place, because the network knows this fandom will follow it everywhere.

fck jellybeans „ruin the surprises“ I think... i always feel like those clips are so hard to understand without a transcript because it’s so loud and stuff. Especially if English is not you’re mothertongue like in my case

@@some_soul3902 You were right, don't worry. 😉 But I agree with con vids being hard to make out sometimes, and I'm British. English IS our mother language, lol. On a side note, please may I steal 'Fuck jellybeans' as an exclamation, because I honestly love that so much, lol. 😂

I got a question. In my country we learn that around the age of 8 at school. I don't think anybody talked with there parents about it. So is it the parents job in the rest of the world? :D

Conventionally, at least in America, from what I've heard it used to be parents. Now though most of us already know without our parents having to tell us (I say us because I am 14). My mom never gave me the talk and she never plans to, and my dad would never either. At a certain point they just assumed I knew, which was fair because I did. I learned everything from my friends and the internet so it doesn't make a difference.

Babies come from the womb, not vaginas. Ok, Jared says his kid said “Out of vaginas” to be precise… but the focus on the vagina has an underlying link to the sex act rather than babies per se. (Not trying to psych anyone lol - just to point out that language creates certain expectations.) Also, the Stork story is metaphorically correct too: storks used to symbolise “Fallen Angels” who were believed to be the fathers of highly intelligent people like witches/wizards.

Kids don’t come from vaginas lmao, they come from the womb. Love Jared for not being convinced they don’t come from storks! 😂 The stork story actually refers to Fallen Angels so, grain of truth and all that.
