Scoring has become too easy for him man. Wow. I think it’s been crazy to see the transformation in his game ever since he changed his approxh from being a “poont god” to a CLEAR score first assassin. I’m not saying he doesn’t still count as a point god, but it’s a clear difference in approach. In college and his first couple years, he was much less aggressive As a scorer. He reminded me more of John Wall with his approach than Arenas or Kyire etc. but something changed . I think I even remember hearing about him being encouraged mroe by his coach and his teammates to look for his own shot. And WOW. something scary has been unleashed to say the least lol! I actually wonder what Prime John Wall would have looked like if he wasn’t tasked with being a true PG and getting everyone their shots . Honeslty I think that was the best part of his game and he got so many guys paid, but I do wonder. I guess philosophically I’m always debating in my mind which is better/. For PGs to truly look to score first, or to look to set guys up first and then sprinkle in their 20 points( if they are good enough of course). I think the way the NBA has evolved is starting to give the answer. I don’t think the modern game is best suited for a Pg who averages 10+ asssots and runs everything through them. I think it’s better to have guys who are willing to move the ball, but don’t ever hold onto it. Either make a play and get a bucket, or run your set and get motion and don’t hold the ball. If you look, you’ll notice that when the warriors started winning they would almost always lead the league in assists, but never once had a guy averaging 10 or even 9 assists. But they would have two around 6-7, and I’m sure a few others between 3-5. Assists matter so much, but there seems to be such a huge correlation between winning and balanced assists, as opposed to one high assist guy. I remember Russ top assist years in OKC he averaged 10-11 but the team would be near the bottom in total assists. Anyways, I just find it interesting! JA has become unleashed as a scorer, but he’s basiclafl like an unselfish scorer now instead of a pass first true point. And I think it works. What is also cool is that when he isn’t being efficient on offense( see most of the games vs the wolves in round one, shot 39 percent for the series) he can go back to being mostly an amazing set up guy.
