Probably not defensively, but just his attitude alone is more "leadership-ready" than Lonzo.

Definitely would be starting in Phoenix, that's for damn sure! (P.S., I hate to be doing this kind of shit yet again, but if we truly can't trade for a point guard like D'Angelo Russell, as an example of mine, he would be a nice enough alternative, especially if there's no Zion Williamson on board.)

Love this kid's game and mentality. This kid's 6'3" which is good enough to play point in the NBA, with NBA level speed and athleticism. He can't shoot consistently just yet and doesn't seem to have elite vision or anything. But he gets himself 8 or so assists a game from his passing IQ and gravity alone. Things like personality, work ethic, and IQ matters. And this kid has it all. Much more impressed wit him than I am of RJ Barrett. Although, the obvious knock is that Morant doesn't exactly play against the same competition night in and night out.

Sleeper pick. Definite lottery pick potential. I'm most impressed by his handle, then athleticism, then his finishing control for his size and weight. I'm not on him being top 5 though.

Ja Morant is the real deal! I think he's a lock in lottery pick for sure. I'm impressed with all the things you mentioned but what really stands out to me is his passing ability. He's currently leading all D1 NCAA player in assist.
@blackmanwhitesuit5 жыл бұрын
@@NextOnesNetwork Yeah, I've been looking him up and found that his 9+ assists leads the nation. Comparing his passing, he doesn't have the half court passing of Trae or Simmons and he's not a full court passer like Lonzo, but he works the PnR pass pretty well as well as some flashy passes. I'm intrigued though, so this is just my first time seeing him on Murray State and I'll continue to follow him to see more.

Just watched him play a full game and I'm now i'm more sure about my initial thoughts: -First, his teammates deserve some credit, because they are better than the Morant hype would have you believe. Cowart and Brown really hold that team up. Buchanan does a lot of the in-between work. -Second, he's a better passer than I initially thought. He has good kick out instincts. He's not really a PnR maestro, but he does make good passes in the half court. Not as good as Trae Young, but definitely up there. -Third, he's not a good a scorer as a thought. The comparisons to RJ are laughable, because Morant has the athleticism and shows bursts of finishing ability when driving, but RJ is always on it (even when he's being selfish). His shooting stroke is nice looking, but he's not the best shooter. He relies on his speed and athleticism to score instead of craftiness and IQ reads. -Fourth, you can tell the hype is pushing him from solid prospect to legendary prospect, when it's probably not deserved. Seeing how he got a number of his points, seeing his slow start and bad decision making, seeing not being the point of the team, seeing his highlight moments being pushed over his teammates and hearing the announcers drool over him made me realize it is a hype thing. I think the best test will just be time, because he is prototypical but has a number of clear holes as a guard.
