Features the general and often dramatic activities of the Finnish Red Cross, in both towns and isolated districts and outposts, from Red Cross Cottage Hospitals in Lapland, helicopter rescues of injured skiers, treatment of plastic surgery patients, the Friends Service for visiting long-term hospital patients and the aged without families, to the artificial limb centres, all show how the Society meets needs for assistance throughout the community. Training in first aid, home nursing, mountain rescue patrol service, and international training centres for youth are examples of the importance of this aspect of Red Cross preparedness.
