I just heard the French Les feuilles by Yves Montand. And the English, Autumn Leaves by Frank Sinatra. Only the first four words, jaane chaman shola badan, tune is common, not the rest of the song. The total tune by SJ is more fun, for me. The underlying raaga of this song is also there in many other hindi songs eg Raat ke humsafar thak ke, aa gale lag jaa mere sapne mere apne, ye samaa samaa hai pyar ka, etc etc. Perhaps the french composer knew this raaga. It seems western music and indian music may have at least some common roots. Music is universal, from divine source. Lets enjoy.
