Ajay Sharma such a commendable effort to put down your thoughts about a film which people have only rubbished and then stopped talking about ,altogether! It was a film that needed( rather deserved) to be viewed with a different sensitivity, if that didn't happen, eventually so, at-least wished for all the whitewashing of it to stop. Beyond a point, it made me re-think and come to an understanding that not every film needs to be reviewed just as long as it's a film, for this was something that needed to be experienced. Glad that you resonated with the film differently and took to seeing,exploring, interpreting and feeling of the components of the other ends of its pitch ,than that of it which people confined themselves to, missing the rest and thereby writing it off! At the same time, yes, it's by no means a great film. People have somewhat lost the knack of connecting with good films anymore, the film either has to be "great" else it's trash! In an attempt to probably "cleanse" themselves and elevate their taste , thanks to a lot of shit that bollywood have been subjecting us all to since long(for which it s identified more), with the era of different cinema and great films kicking in, and starting as a wave, people have only gone overboard to the extent that they just don't identify with just "good" films anymore. Eventually, the brunt of that is unfortunately felt by films like harry met sejal which are neither great nor bad. It's just good! People need to respect the good for being good and not failing at trying to be great, maybe most don't intend to be anything more than being just good! This was one such film at the end of which I felt fresh, peaceful, rejuvenated and sweet and warm from within, it didn't feel like a film at all, rather, a beautifully sweet and fun trip to unwind into!

The receptionist guy is a FANTASTIC actor. He was a highlight of the film for me. So surprising to see he wasn't actually cast for the role.

Sadly I didn't notice that! I watched Rockstar only once, and even though I loved the movie and Ranbir in it, I couldn't bring myself to watch it again because if the horrible HORRIBLE performance of Nargis. So I didn't catch him the first time I saw!

Mr. Ali I can not thank you enough for this movie. It soothes the eyes and pleases the soul. It gave me hope that if Geet being her crazy self can find someone to love her then may be I can get lucky as well. Every single girl could relate to her and I must say that you know women so well to etch out your female characters so well. I know how amazing you are even in the technical aspects cause I could see Aditya weep away and hear it fade away as the water tricked down the stream right next to the backyard restaurant when he decided to let her get back to her boyfriend. I can tell you about so many other scenes from this masterpiece of a movie where you made me and many others feel exactly how the characters were supposed to see. Please take your time to create the masterpieces you are known for and we will wait eagerly for your creation.

wtf? Why is he explaining the scene to us? It's such a simple scene. That's not how "Inside a A scene" works anyway! Explain us the craft, how the scene was shot, what all prep went behind it. 10 years of Jab We Met made me so look forward to this, but I am extremely disappointed. What a waste of a segment.
@anon-kl8tm7 жыл бұрын
Rohit Mujumdar exactly, as if it's something out of a nolan film! I mean imtiaz himself could ve picked something else such as one of the moments from his film Tamasha, which would be something more apt for this!

I really liked what imtiaz said at the end that when you’re in the process of making movie you don’t look at it through the point of view of enjoying it and feeling it, you’re more inclined towards the logistics and all and more involved in rationalization of actions and reactions and judgments. Same goes for life, when you’re desiring something you focus too much about the how’s and whys and when’s and judgements that you simply lay-off the feel of enjoyment which really propelled the desire.

I understand that there is no use of explaining such a simple scene.... A scene which was easy to understand... But I think instead taking digs at him for 'underestimating our intelligence and all' we can see and enjoy what all went into the making of the iconic scene... Inside A Scene doesn't just dissect complicated scenes... But the the director also explains the making of the scene...
@JessePinkmanABQ7 жыл бұрын
Love Imtiaz to death but this is such an irony. The guy who gives the audience so much credit and never over explains stuff in his movies is explaining such a basic scene. When does the INSIDE part of this segment begin?! I guess the brief given to him by FC was plain wrong! Im cringing outside the scene! Peace!

Worst Inside a scene video. No insights or how it was done except what he said about the art director in the beginning. Why is he analysing such a simple scene? For eg : the receptionist is shocked that this business is now in trains.. business development.. Why does he need to explain that?

Dear lovely people at Film Companion. I truly appreciate the efforts that you guys are putting in but if you are spending time, money and effort on something then at least do it right. Inside a Scene must be about how to director chose to stage the scene, block the camera, direct her/his actors, prep that went into the film rather than whatever this was. If you can't brief the guests on your show properly about what it is that they need speak then please hire someone who can understand the needs of the audience and what future filmmakers must take from this segment to help you with briefing these amazing guests. If that seems over the budget, feel free to contact me and I am willing to do it free of cost. (Just reimburse travelling and food expenses.) :)

Now that Imtiaz says he enjoyed this scene, I would recommend he watches the whole film again and introspect on his current standards. What happened to you man? Rockstar was good, but you screwed it up by casting Nagris. Tamasha was nice, but had nothing new to say and the writing fell flat towards the end. Highway was good, but you ended the film on a conveneient melodramatic speech. The less we talk about Harry met Sejal, the better. Please get serious and make something substantial next.
