Jabba Collection Pickups #11: Bootleg LEGO Rancor Minifigure?!

In today's collection pickup I look at a bootleg LEGO rancor and compare it to the genuine article. Can YOU tell the difference?

Of the many bootleg Lego designs out there, this one looks more than acceptable. Diehard eBay sellers be damned, I won't pay the insane Disney/star wars prices.

number 1 is bootleg b/c the bottom of the rancor the holes go up and down the bootleg one has holes go one up and one down.

Boy it's hard to tell, i've guessed both of them 3 times lol (and i've got one bootleg Rancor in my hands right now) I think i'm putting my bets on 1 bcus i saw a line on the side of it's jaw, mine has that too. Man, am i glad to have these many bootlegs around. I've always loved LEGO and i could only get 1 Set a year or less even as i grew older bcus this Rancor set for example costs around R$1.600 (that's much more than minimum wage) here in Brazil. And since LEGO simply STOPS making their sets i'd get one Small-Medium LOTR set of each movie when they came out and that was that till the end of times. Now thanks to bootlegs i could get the ones they stopped making and complete my fellowship of the ring. I still buy original LEGO sometimes, but i must say as the time goes by i'm more and more inclined to buying ONLY bootlegs, last set i got was R$120 Mandalorian and Grogu on the speeder, Din has a black head, his helmet is plain and MISPRINTED and then i got a R$8 bootleg Mandalorian which the helmet was unique, had the little mohawk on it, detailed printing on all sides, had Pedro Pascal's face, a Jetpack and the Darksaber. Beside him i've got PLENTY more bootlegs that are MUCH better than the original ones.

I would be satisfied with the bootleg. Looks pretty much the same. On display, I don't think people would really know the difference. Plus, you can't beat that price!!

You can tell, there’s an extra line on the jaw and the teeth are bad …both of these flaws being on the “fake” one

Rancor #1 is the fake. The paint is sligtly lighter and the teeth aren't as realistic-looking

Number 1 is sooo fake. He has a line down his head which sort of gives it awY. The teeth are kess defined and the bottoms of the feet looked less sharp than a real lego

I cannot spot any major differences between the two figures, aside for the one on the left having a slightly more matt finish to the face. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the rancor on the right is the official Lego rancor.

Rancor 1 is real and rancor 2 is fake. Minor details also the streering of his arms, but overall very good knockoff.

Well, given the fact that I collect "LEGO" the bootlegs are frustrating. If you plan is to put something cheap together good on ya. However, the purchasing of these items is saturating the market with cheap knock offs. If I spend the money for a Porsche and get a Pinto... do I have the right to be angry. LEGO, if you hear me, lawyer up and begin taking down these bootlegs that don't advertise as knock offs. Buyer beware!!! Do your research, know what you are looking for, and after you've made your sellers send detailed pictures, check your figures when they arrive...I've had more than a few arrive not as described nor as initially purchased. I hope all bootleggers who pass these off as LEGO get what is coming to them.

He said you can buy it online and mentioned some sites (Aliexpress, EBay, Etc) The cheapest prices I have seen are 10 or 12 dollars, I’f your lucky then you might find 1 for $8

Bootlegs are ok for someone who can’t afford the real thing but when people are selling fakes on eBay for over £100 claiming they are real that’s where the problem lies. Today one sold for way over £100 and earlier a fake boba fett cloud city Mini Figure sold for just over £1000 here in the UK.

Roxy is the name of the life-size rancor that they have at conventions, but it is not actually the name of Jabba’s rancor. That one is supposedly named Pateesa and is a male: starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Pateesa
