Flying Jabiru Aircraft : In this video I demonstrate the short field ability of Jabiru SP470. Please note this is a demonstration only and I’d recommend you do not try short field operations until you have had the appropriate training from a Certified Flying Instructor. This jabiru has a 85 hp flat four Jabiru motor with a Brent Thompson 60 x 44 propeller. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy seeing what the Jabiru is capable of, if you like the video please give it the thumbs up and subscribe for further episodes. Cheers and thanks for watching.
Note-Views expressed in this video are my own personal opinion and this video is for entertainment purposes only.

It's plainly obvious you have an amazing passion for flying (your enthusiasm makes me feels like I'm watching the Steve Irwin of aviation 🤠🤠)

Crikey mate ! Thanks Nick , don’t know if I can live up to Steve Irwins enthusiasm but I do love flying & sharing what I can with like minded aviators. Cheers.

Wow what another great informative video. You are an exceptional pilot and all your actions are clear and easy to understand. Looking forward to learning more and following the rest of your series on Jabiru flying. 👍

Thanks for the kind words, the Jabiru once you get it set up as you want it and understand your particular aircraft they are a beautiful thing to fly. I am fortunate enough to spend many hours in the seat and practice everything at altitude before conducting any tricky stuff down low. Glad you enjoyed the video, cheers Steve.

Gday Daniel, glad you enjoyed it. Remember practice on a long runway first, you don’t want to bend it. Cheers.

Looking at a jabiru j200 because of the weight. Im a fatty at 96kg and though I'm not allowed to say her weight, my wife has a bit of heft as well. Am i right in assuming that the weight of the j200 is 310kg? In nz we are allowed to fly a mtow of 600kg, most planes are about 360kg so not leaving us much wiggle room once we get the two of us in plus fuel. Main reason for buying is long distance travel, i come from the south island and my wife from the north island so most of my family and friends are down south, so we need as much fuel and luggage as we can get on board. Does anyone have any other suggestions for an aircraft that would fit the bill as well or better than the J200?

I would probably suggest the 230 with the larger wing would be a better option, the 200 however is a very good aircraft.

@@standupmoto only issue i would find i think is that the 230 is another 20-30kg heavier? Thats my wifes curling tongs, hairdryer, potions and purfumes lol (i would like to say I'm kidding but....). I like the 230 in everyway except weight. I would just lose weight but i was hit by a car and exercise has become difficult.

@@shanekeat7473 I see your dilemma but the 230 in VH reg (here in Aus) is a four seater in many cases, they keep lifting the MAUW in rec so I’m not really sure what it is nowadays but I think you would have to throw a heap of stuff in there to exceed it. Probably worth a call to Jabiru to clarify some numbers, one other thing I would mention is parts are getting a bit scarce for some of the Jab motors. Make sure if you go down that track you’ll be able to keep it in the air. Not sure of your budget but the Zenair 750 with the 100 Rotax is a pretty good thing, there’s even some kicking around with the 0-200 in them . Just a thought.

Top stuff Matty, good luck with your potential purchase. Just one quick note, this old pelican has been steering these & other aircraft for over 30 years. Please don’t try doing what I’m demonstrating here until you’ve had the appropriate amount of training. Cheers.

@@standupmoto thanks got Just over a 1,000hrs flying time in p92, rans s12 and my last plane fk9 smart and am a few hours flying away from getting my instructor's licence.I learnt in Fuerteventura and Tarifa two of the windiest places in Europe/Africa so I'm doing pretty good so far,but never stop learning, cheers and happy landings.

@@MattyRouter Cheers Matty, that’s great. You’ve got plenty of time in multiple aircraft but you’d understand where I’m coming from, I’d hate to get a low time pilot trying some of the manoeuvres that only experience & hours can teach you. Wind, especially strong wind is just the best fun, Tarifa ! You don’t get much further South on the peninsula than that. Yes you have flown in a crazy windy spot, enjoy mate and let me know how you go with the Jab. Cheers.
