Is it just me, or would some of these archive cards with the modern players on them would look so much better if their on-card photo was put through a filter that made the photo look like it was from the time period of whatever the card is... For example... if a 1963 or a 1978 card had a modern player on it, but the photo looked like it was from '63 or '78, would it look pretty cool? (I think it would)

My Pops saw the Al Bumbry auto and gasped! He loved Al, but his favorite Oriole was Boog. Pops brought me into collecting and always bonded over old Washington Senator's and Oriole's card hunting. Thanks again Jabs, preciate ya sir 🙏

Just opened a hobby of Archives right before watching this video.... these two boxes were a little underwhelming - I had far better luck in my box, for what it's worth. Two Rookie Autos (Roansy Contreras and Bryan de la Cruz /25) plus a Seiya Suzuki short print, and a couple other nice low number cards.... plus, you pulled a large number of cards that weren't in my box - I'll definitely buy another this weekend. Thanks Jabs!

I'm right there with the "87 Topps overload" comments. It'd be nice if Topps got creative and tapped into great designs from other sports, like '85 or '88 football. Even if it was as a short print. I bet a Julio Rodriguez rookie in the '85 football design would look awesome .

So, here’s my take. On the positive side the card quality overall is pretty good from what I saw in the break. No major production issues and the cards seemed to be nicely centered which is refreshing. Now the reality: The autographed cards you pulled on the break are mostly worthless with a higher ceiling on the international signing card. Most younger collectors don’t know who they even are. Also, the set is comprised of a large amount of non relevant (current) and valueless HoF players. This is another Topps issue that under delivers with the exception of the couple big hits they showcase in ads and on the box and a few numbered parallels. My advice: find the cards from the set you like the most and start searching eBay. Ripping boxes chasing for unicorns is a horrible waste of cash and doesn’t do much for your PC. At Walmart today I found 4 Archives blasters in the $17 discount box. I have never opened the product before so thought I would give it a try. I had to do a double and triple take on what I pulled followed by a lot of serial number checks. I pulled the Jrod design variant and the Wander photo variant. Not bad for leftovers.

Ever see that Futurama episode where they went to the Twentieth-Century Theme Park and the animatronics were like Jimi Hendrix playing ping-pong with Plato, Einstein and Hammurabi are disco dancing. Thats what Topps Archives feels like to me. Players and card designs from all of baseball history jumbled together into a technicolor yawn.
