4:32 Hotel is become equivalent to Restaurants. The word resto is uncommon in India, only people living it cities will seldomly use it. So you hear Hotel from an Indian guy most prolly he is talking about restaurant. If there is accomodation available then it will either be called Lodge(if it has under 10 rooms) or "Stars" will be used to show accomodation availablity ex: Its a 3 star Hotel or 4 Star Hotel, will guarantee you it has accomodation.

Indian restaurants abroad have limited desserts Typically, gulab jamun, jalebi, kulfi and maybe lassi. That's like 0.000001% of Indian sweets. And yes, in India, hotel is a term used for both "staying hotel" and restaurants. So not every hotel has staying rooms.

One of the most underrated deserts in India is Mishti Doi (Sweetened Curd). Its a Bengali dessert which from the presentation to taste is top notch. Its usually served in a clay cup and has this soft earthy taste.... Its not too sweet but not too tangy either. Its creamy and delightful. Its like tasting petrichore (smell of first rain) with some creamy yogurt.

First time commenting here- Yes- I love the Laddoo with the little balls- Balling together. And as Kristen was mentioning the thoughts behind the making in such a way is- when we bite into the laddoo, it crumbles in mouth into smaller balls and each smaller balls gives you burst of flavors- similar ideology like Caviar but on Sweet side. 😋

Hotel in India can mean fooding, lodging or both in one place. Now more people specify hotels and restaurants to remove the confusion. Hotels were used before for small restaurants too which would mostly serve meals (Lunch, Dinner, etc). Few used Lodge term too when there is only lodging involved. If u seen hotels which served only food, then they have to be old establishments. Now they are getting properly categorized. Earlier most establishments had to do both due to economical constraints so hotel was the safest term to use for those hybrids 😂. What u dont see in India are the Motels.

The restaurant is a bit difficult to pronounce. So, common people who don't speak English prefer calling Hotel to restaurants. And Street food is cheap basically under $1, so don't expect high hygiene from them. If anyone wants good hygiene and cleanliness they visit high end shops in India. They are also in abundance but maybe foreigners do not know about them. And think of Street shops as all in all in India.

In America you have Hotels and Motels to eat and stay respectively however, In Bharat, a Hotel can be a place to eat or to stay like a Rest room/leisure stay or else you can call a street food vendor shop a Hotel as well. No one use the word "Motel" here in Bharat.

The sugar used for indian sweets in western countries are very very different that's why its too sweet to eat. If you travel in India for indian sweets, there will be a huge difference. Like I experienced, The sugar here is just sweet tasting, flat sweet taste but in India it is diffident ,the sugar taste like sugar from cane and the sweets from then is just the best.
