One major factor is India is a democratic nation and China is not, so Indian govt cannot force decisions and its not easy to bring everyone on one page whereas China just forces decisions and everyone complies so they developed rapidly.

A census conducted in 2011 showed that India has about 19,569 languages and dialects, of which almost 1,369 are considered dialects and only 121 are recognized as languages (the acceptance criterion being that the language has 10,000 or more speakers)
@sankhz54

I think language should not only be recognized if there are more than 10,000 speakers. This criterion neglects the tribal communities, I forgot the name of the tribe of less than 60 people, and I had to ask my father, they have their own language and script.

Numbers don't always tell the whole story, especially when you consider these international forums that put out these rankings. Sometimes there's a bias involved. It's hard to take these rankings seriously when they rank Pakistan higher than India in the World Press Freedom Index or when they place Sri Lanka above India in the World Happiness Index. And yeah, we've also noticed some Western bias towards India, like the reaction to the success of the Chandrayaan 3 mission. Is India without flaws? Nope, but there's been significant improvement over the last decade. Can it be better? Definitely.

And moreover, the biggest challenge right now is that, India being a democratic nation, cannot enforce decisions like China, and the govt has to constantly spend time, energy and resources in trying to tackle the tactics by the opposition to stay in Power, maintain harmony and focus on development on various fronts.

14:45 This won't show the whole picture. It's true that India was late for exonomic liberalization and open it's markets to capitalism. China opened it's market back in 1978 while India only did that in 1991. Before that, India was a Socialist country and thus economic development was slow. But eventhough India was late, after they opened the economy in 1991, the growth rate is incredible. If you live in India, you can see the rapid changes. During 2000s, most oif the roads were dirt roads eveywhere and only the highways and main roads were paved. Things like flyovers were considerd as ultra luxuary. But in just 15 years by 2015, even the small village roads are paved. Flyovers are very common now and we even have elavated highways in my small city. Highways are being built everywhere. Ports are being constructed inclduing some mega ports.

That's a balanced analysis. I agree with the stats. One major difference is the difference between a dictatorship and a democracy. In China, policy making is easy, in India, it is not as there are laws and people have rights. So, in a democracy, reforms are always slow. India certainly needs to do a lot more, but we need to understand that China started reforms and economic liberalization a decade earlier than India and then communism makes it so much easier to take tough steps. As an economy grows and a nation has money to spend, its pace of growth gets faster and faster. India has fought 5 wars since independence and has constantly struggled with terrorism and a period of geopolitical isolation from the west, at a time when the same west was trying to engage and appease China to draw it away from Soviet Union. From Henry Kissinger to Barack Obama, the US and its allies played a big role in making China the factory of the world. China earned huge trade surplus and used that money to strengthen itself. So, China had its share of favors and advantages but India is catching up now. As India continues to grow and if India is not dragged into another war for the next 10-15 years and the politicians are serious about making serious reforms, supporting businesses and building talent, then India will transform very quickly. The next decade is what is going to transform India and if correct policies are followed, India will change forever.

Hindi is not our national language... Is only official language... Some have questions why we accept other languge(engish) than hindi... Because English is global language... For global communication we need to learn this global language... For that we accept English... If we Learn hindi it will be only used to communicate with people in our country... If everyone learn hindi we all will communicate only using hindi... Then what about our mother tongue... I don't know about north india.... In south india we consider mother tongue as a another mother... And I am not gonna tell our language is only great...So for every body their mother, mother tongue is the best... We are not ready to destroy our mother... So we refuse hindi....

This needs to be updated. There has been huge infra growth in India in the last six years. For eg: there are 0ver 170 airports in India today. Do calculate infra as per cent of land area. That would be fair. Also, the figures given are from last census in 2001. We haven't had census since then. So many of the data could be misleading: eg life expectancy, GDP, per capita income expectancy, etc

it's outdated. we have improved rapidly. LIfe expectancy is not 71 age and increasing quickly. World Bank stopped making ease of business ranking coz china showed fake data to them and when asked they denied to show real data. So World Bank stopped making ranking which PM Modi also raised the issue that world bank is not doing fair to countries who hard work each year to raise their rank. We under modi govt. ranked up from 108 to 62 till 2020 after that they stopped releasing rank. Looks like this video is old as most of data was outdated.
