Whole point of Rahul Bose's character having underlining issues is because that's how most men, claiming that they are modern and have no issues when their wives are ambitious in todays day and age are. He is not out right evil and abusive, but is very subtly manipulative and extremely demeaning. He acts like he supports her but when Priyanka tries to even talk to him, he always dismisses her by making side remarks, which makes Priyanka not comfortable enough to carry on with her points. This is another reason WHY Priyanka actually don't communicate with him, because he's always shutting her off and dismissing her point by being very demeaning to her. She also doesn't speak up clearly because everyone and I mean everyone around her are very dismissive; her lowkey sexist husband and highkey sexist mother in law, her parents. When she tried to actually communicate and consult her mother, but she also told her off and asked her to not be silly and mention this ever again. In conclusion, she's frustrated and always dismissed. Besides Rahul Bose's character don't have to be a cheater to be a bad husband. He's a husband that can be annoying and suffocating without being actually physically abusive. It's more realistic that way.

It’s baffling that Jaby is unable to see what rahul bose’s character has done to deserve Priyanka not liking him or wanting to leave him. People are blaming the subtitles and yes to an extent some of it is lost in translation but Achara was able to catch a lot of these things which she even says after the scene of Priyanka and Farhan aktar towards the end of this part. Her husband belittles her, disrespects her, doesn’t commend her for her successful business, hasn’t asked her if she wants a baby and instead just expects it, has never stood up for her when his mother repeatedly passive aggressively taunts her, thinks he’s some great guy simply for “allowing” her to work and feels he deserves some kind of credit for that even though she’s the one putting in all the work, the list goes on… And for her moms character, don’t even get me started on why it’s a huge red flag that jaby doesn’t see anything wrong with the husband openly flirting with another woman just because the wife rejected him in bed. I’ve seen him make comments like this in other videos and well. Seriously sad for any woman in his life.

i dont think jaby is wrong , if you come to it from a logical POV , her wife and kamal have not been on good terms and dont spend time together lovingly, its just a show for the society, she rejected him in bed and her attitude clearly states that there is no love and romance btw them, so why is she hurting when he gets attracted to other women ? yes its ethically wrong because they are married but logically correct. you cant expect someone to chase you when you are rejecting that person again n again. and then the women say that men cheat always

No justification for cheating? Lol. Fresh out of theoretical moral science class are we? Relationships are both physical and emotional. What would happen if either of the aspects are kept unfulfilled for a long long time? People can go astray the moment they feel wholesome with someone else, irrespective of gender. It's the passion of love and lust! The moment this happens with someone you're not in a relationship with, it's labelled as cheating. Is it wrong? maybe...but it's definitely justifiable.
@ActuallyAnanya2 жыл бұрын
@@jal.ajeera there is no justification for cheating, if you feel that way then you need to just end the relationship and then you can freely pursue other people. If you're confused about Shefali Shah or Priyanka's characters, you should understand, they're not only struggling with their partners but also with themselves. They're the women of typical Indian families, especially with divorces, women have been very careful coz they're always blamed for the divorces. she's struggling to make sure whether what she's doing or what she wants is right, is really worth it.
@veligandlachakradhar76582 жыл бұрын
They are married does not mean she needs to have intercourse whenever he wants to. She said she had a long and tiring day. If your partner says that, you should be understanding and comforting. Sulking in a corner only means you are guilt tripping them into have sex with you. That is a horrible trait to have. I have seen jaby taking these views multiple times before and it's not at all good. Also Rahul's character is problematic on so many levels. Shefali's character did not simply reject anil's character. They were not in love for a long time then and he suddenly acted all lovey dovey which would obviously seem fake to her because that's how they usually act in public. "I do not understand women" is such a stupid thing to say in This context.

Mind you, all this, after he belittles her, tells her the family wealth is his alone, treats her like she's a spineless, dependent woman. Wow! I love Achara's understanding in every reaction. As for others, this isn't so confusing, there's drama here, these things happen in families. it's exactly what the film is about. have you never heard about dysfunctional families? it's easy for us to watch from the outside and pick faults coz we see the whole picture. But people involved are involved with their emotions and cannot see the whole picture of who's going through what.

Why is she pissed? Because her husband cheated on her & she still stayed . And once you get cheated it's difficult to master any respect for that partner or that relationship. Acting for the children or following your responsibilities is one thing and intimacy is completely different. 🤦🏻♀️ When he cheated on ger what did he think was gonna happen ? Now you might say why doesn't she take a divorce? Because like shes telling her daughter to make it work , her mother did too . That's how it happens . Also Aayesha's husband just goes on to " we have to do this " . Idk why it took so long but even there he seemed a but controlling. She's not happy in the marriage & the passive aggressiveness from the mother-in-law doesn't help . The son let's it happen , dismisses her , doesn't see her as an equal .

Jaby hasn't understood many nuances of the film. The subtitles are not helping either as they are pathetic. There are many reasons why Priyanka's and Shefali Shah's characters behaved that way. Their respective husbands behaviour cannot be justified in any circumstances whatsoever. Achara's reactions were on point.

The entire film is a commentary on Indian society. I myself am an Indian and the level of patriarchy one gets to see in this movie actually exists. The movie makes a point that patriarchy has got nothing to do with class. People generally have this misconception that patriarchy is something that is prevalent in families that are low on the status and income ladder but the reality is that it also persistent amongst educated high income groups. Priyanka's character Ayesha is not made to feel inferior by her husband but also by her parents who expect her to be a 'good housewife' as opposed to a 'career-oriented ambitious woman'. Patriarchy also means the control elders of the family have over the choices of the younger members of the family. Similarly, Kabir is expected to manage the business because he is the 'man/son' of the family and men in general are expected to earn to support the family. Men are expected to lead and women are expected to follow. The movie not only highlights patriarchy from the perspective of a husband controlling his wife but also parents (elders of the family) forcing their children into submitting to their beliefs.

8:23 he had cheated on her in the past, is condescending towards her and she is hurt & resentful of him for that. She’s also frustrated that she can’t leave him as she doesn’t have a job/career or calibre to make one at this point in her life. Hence the justified bitterness. And he is shamelessly flirting with other women that too in front of other people.
@dhairiyasundar12852 жыл бұрын
Jaby is right. the best way to empower her would be to help her get a divorce. But not everyone around her would support it. The question is will she do it for herself despite having no support? We're a part of this journey. So instead of getting frustrated you need to focus on the journey and watch what she does😂 also Farhan and her used to be involved, there is no way he's going to ask her to get a divorce. Maybe that's why he didn't.

Jaby’s misogyny is so evident even in a cut-down version of their reaction to this movie. The other reaction that stands out for me is K3G, when he was sympathising with Amitabh Bachchan’s character. It’s just sad, and someone really needs to call him out and explain it to him.

8:29 Really Jaby, you don't understand what's happening? She is "rejecting him" because its implied from the beginning that he has cheated on her multiple times. And now he is cheating on her in the public, on their anniversary. He also constantly mocks her for her weight and her efforts to lose it. Anil Kapoor's character is direct parallel to Rahul Bose's character who is an absolute d-bag to Priyanka.

These relationships are too complicated for Jaby lol the reason why the mother rejects the father's advances is because 1) they aren't genuine in the first place and 2) he's already cheated and she knows. When she confronted him about it during the tour, he gaslit her and she copes with it all by comfort eating. The movie is literally laying it all out for us lol
