But this is also correct that we don't need random music videos in between the movie. The only example I could think of is Jai Jai Shiv Shankar song in war, which has no context with movie. Jaby I get what u mean when you say they were joking on the battlefield.. if not for the war they would have been friends cracking such jokes over beer. However, I disagree. The scene probably looks n sounds as if it's a joke but the intent of the Pakistani soldier was not to make the situation light with a few jokes.. I think its because you don't get the insult in his tone since u don't speak the language. His intention was to insult indian women especially the actress. To be honest it was a very indecent thing to do to joke n bring an actress in the middle of a war n say something so derogatory.. it only shows that the pakistani soldier wasn't doing this as his duty towards his country but was gaining pleasure out of the war. Pls note that he didn't ask for Madhuri dixit in an innocent manner out of respect for her. It was meant as an insult n in a derogatory manner towards the actress n it clearly provoked Cap. Batra. Since he was a funny guy himself, he replied jokingly but it was not something that was taken lightly. If u ask me, if they were not in War and were simply two guys at the bar and had this guy said smth so derogatory about a woman belonging to other guy's country, religion o ethnicity, they wouldn't be sharing a drink to that instead it would start a fight between them. Imagine how it will feel if the bartender says to you that I'll give u the booze for free if u let me have ur hot friend over there.. it was almost like that.

Music is inseparable part of commercial Indian movies. But the fact that the movie was not overly dramatized or fictionalized is very unique to Indian cinema. Few Indian cinemas are only made for art and their objective is not to make money but to showcase the art of cinema. Such kind of cinemas which are called as art cinema or parallel cinema mostly doesn't contain any music, even if it is there then it will be like a radio or a gramophone or a stuff like that playing in the background. In India, an actor who works in art cinema is called a real actor and hence several actors, who wants to prove themselves as good actor at least once in a lifetime work in an art film. Anyhow, art films or parallel cinema is almost dead in India and if at all they are made then it will be mostly or primarily for national or international awards. This is because of two things, first because of multiplexes which do not show such movies and secondly because of too many TV channels. In good old days when only two channels DD national and DD metro were available then people were forced to watch art movies because there was no third choice, either they watch the movie or shut the TV.

I urge any bollywood producer to give jaby a chance to make the 1st background scoreless and musicless bollywood movie😆😆🤣 I wonder what blood group he has that he doesnt feel the pump from the fantastic background score😉 Why dont Jaby realise that Vikram himself was a bollywood movie buff and a music lover

Music is an integral part of Indian people as such it well rooted to Indian culture, emotions and sentiments. You wont feel connected to the music becoz unlike Achara u are totally unware of the subtle nuances of hindi vocabulary, or seldom tries to understand the nuances. You only judge from ur own technical perspective which is not true for Indian movies. We are not here to compete with American films. Films here are made to connect Indian audiences.

Music 🎶 is an integral part of Indians lives from centuries. We have so much variety of music. From centuries common people across villages sing folk songs to represent various emotions and stories. Even Vedic scriptures contain verses which have musical tones. Like Bhagwad geeta etc.

The main problem is you are not accepting the fault of your review, and want to justify your review. After knowing this movie is a good tribute to Vikram Batra ji , you told that you like his story but not the movie. By the way if you recognise the meaning of these songs then you can also appreciate this. I just want to say that accept your faults.

You cannot understand the significance of music in Indian movies, especially in this movies without knowing the language and without being INDIAN.

In indian movies music is not used entirely for entertainment purposes…every situation in the movie.. has a happy song or a festive song for feel good scenes with lyrics expressing those feelings about dat particular situation same goes to the sad songs…as a South Indian i had a very hard time learning to speak hindi..these songs were a bridge for ppl like me to learn different languages..n understand the feelings..in a way its d promotion of culture n various other things…

Definitely agree about the music. But I think that would make it a little too “real” for Indian audiences. Music actually subtly hints that you are watching a film, at the end of the day. A grittier director would’ve probably gone no music, like in “No country for old Men”.

Indians are moved by music. If you remember, in URI, the music was kept at a low, because it was a sort of documentary. But this movie is a TRIBUTE. This hero, the one we most revere. was a Bollywood fan. Which is why the movie was made the way it was. It is a tribute to HIM. Get the difference?
