I loved that show, me and my sister technically grew up watching it. I mean the difference between us and the people who hate the show entirely is because of how long the hiatus is or how short or horrible the finale was (Which yes, I wish it could be a bit longer, the finale.) . But, SOME, not all, people criticizing it watch it after all of that, after the hype, and are now expecting the story instead of it coming along as you go. So now the waiting for the story comes in place more than it really should in my opinion

@@degenerativeburgergoblin157 no I would say your theory is correct. I think that's primarily the reason why people are jealous of geeks and nerds. Honestly I try to avoid those kind of people. I like what I am. I don't gamble, drink, or smoke I rather spent on things I like and people that don't accept that then that's their problem.

Honestly. I tried this when I was in elementary to middle school because I was a big gamer geek, but it was practically bursting out of me. So come high school, I let it out and showed my "freak side" to everyone. And they actually liked it. They're getting more and more into video games and they're even delving into anime, which I did not see coming. I had a positive influence on my peers and it encouraged me to not be so ashamed of who I am and what I love. Hopefully you all can sometime share that experience. There's more than likely someone out there that shares your likes or can accept your "freak side." Don't change because someone told you to.

I know this video is old, but LISTEN TO IT! Back in the day it was really taboo to like anime, and I got ridiculed by friends and family for liking it. Trying to fit in, I pretended to think it was dumb and even bullied other people just to make myself feel better. Same thing happened with music, I wanted to fit in with my friends so I listened to alt rock and things of the sort. Lo and behold, I didn't like being an emo or any of that! I didn't like the fashion, I didn't like anything I told myself to like! It took some hard reinvention during freshman year to figure out who I was again and what I liked. So I implore all of you youngins, or older homies, to stop trying to pretend to be something you're not, it makes you miserable! Listen to this guy whose channel I discovered 16 minutes ago.

My goodness this hit home for me. Liking Pokemon back in the day was a taboo. Only seen as dumb kids stuff. Made it worst that my own family ridicule me so I had to pretend it was dumb as well. Keep it all bottled up to myself. In secret I'll watch the series but when i get caught OH BOY. In highschool, it was disheartening that no one even ever talked about Pokemon or any video games of the kind. So i kept my interest to myself and stayed quiet. Gotta act 'cool' Enough was enough. I gathered up courage and bought Diamond and Pearl. and I was finally happy to enjoy something I like. I didn't care what anyone said. Cause they are missing out! Only when I started being social on the internet. I was so surprised that my online friends like pokemon as well. I started to be more opened to share my interest as well. That was when I realized that I was kind of unique for being one of the only kids in my town who liked Nintendo more than fortnite or call of duty or any other shit like that. This is so painfully relatable to me, I've got such a hard time talking openly about the things I enjoy, or even initiating a conversation, because as early as third grade, other kids would just mercilessly mock me for enjoying things in my intended age group. I never really grew out of most of those things, and even when it's somehow "cool for adults to be into it" like what we saw with pokemon go, I still felt like I had to be out pretending I was doing something else. Even people who live with me and already know what I'm about, any time they come to my room, my heart jumps out of my throat and I feel like I need to drape some kind of cover over my amiibo shelf or my digimon v-pet collection so nobody can see.

This literally was me in grade school. We had the same exact dumbass trend. 2 of the "popular" kids had deemed that anything that could be considered "childish" was "stupid" and made you a "loser". They were so fast to grow up instead of just enjoying their own childhood, and more importantly, letting others enjoy their own childhood as well. I'll never forget this one time during outdoor "gym"/playtime period, we were playing some variant of capture the flag. I don't remember the specifics, but when me and LITERALLY THE YOUNGEST KID IN OUR CLASS touched the object at the same time, it had reminded me of this show I was currently watching at the time called Xiaolin Showdown. The premise was basically there were these magical artifacts where if two people touched the artifact at the same time, one of them would say "I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown" and then they'd make up what the battle will be, the rules of the battle, and then whoever won would get the artifact. So when me and, once again, *the youngest kid in our grade* touched the object at the same time, I said out loud, as a joke, "I challenge you, to a Xiaolin Showdown". A joke that, now, if anyone got the reference, would probably just exhale through their nostrils. Y'know, *that* kind of "laugh". But this kid straight-up says "HaHa! You watch Xiaolin Showdown!" And points and laughs and I'm like, well clearly he knows what the show is, or else he wouldn't be trying to appear cool, and second, all these kids clearly watched cartoons, played video games, and did kiddy shit in private. The whole god damn point of going to school though is to make friends through similar interests. But everyone would just sit around pretending they just watched the newest movie on HBO or something instead of bonding over cartoons and video games since they thought it was a taboo. The school itself looking back on it was an absolute shit-show and that was just one example. Turns out, later on, the two "popular" kids that established this hierarchy and this "no brighr colors/no fun allowed" mindset ended up growing up to be gay, anime-loving video game nerds. Now obviously I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being gay, or liking anime or video games. But it just goes to show how much people are willing to hide their souls, their interests, before eventually realizing how stupid that is. They also didn't like gay people and then ended up being gay, themselves. Truly this video unlocked a memory in my head that definitely struck home because being mocked for liking cartoons and anime and video games was the dumbest shit our generation went through. Thank goodness we normalized the opposite. Now, literally the stereotypical "nerd that wears glasses and suspenders with braces and a bowl cut" and the "hood ni🅱️🅱️a" could both absolutely geek out about anime, as my friend would say.

This video is very relatable, especially 5:00 . For me it was more of wanting to please everyone and make no one mad (which is a dumb way of thinking, as you will make someone mad not matter what you do). Depending on who I was around with , I tried fitting to that and I did that so well, I could honestly become an actor at this point. Tbh I'm still kinda doing that sometimes without noticing but I've noticed that the more honest you are about yourself, the more people you will find that you can vibe with. Acting will only suppress you and make you hang around people you don't actually want to. So be yourself people, if someone hates you for who you are they are not worth your time and attention, as these people often times have more insecurity's than you. Great vid, this really helped.

I feel like I'm the perfect balance between the two sides. I understand the "weird" people who just like something a lot for some reason, hell I used to be a bit too into fandoms. I’ve been a million different kinds of people and I can’t seem to please anyone. They’ve got someone better to talk to and I’ve got no one to call company.

Gosh, back in the day, I really held onto my nerdiness. I had action figures, video games and I liked anime, well just Dragonball Z at the time but those things were enough to keep me well attuned to being a "nerd" heck I had a huge thing for Spider-Man because well, he's Spider-Man! But, as the years went by, and I got older, my nerdiness has kinda subdued. I'm actually 21 now and I STILL collect action figures, I STILL play video games and listen to Caramelldansen unironically while walking down the street. Am I ashamed of being who I am? probably. This video kinda brought something to my attention; sometimes being a nerd can kinda suck. Eventually, people out there will get over their nerdiness and I'm out here, still liking the same things. Not that there's anything wrong with liking nerdy stuff because come on, being a nerd rules! But as I grow older and learn new things about the world, am I really willing to let go of my favorite things and become "normal" Heck, when I hang out with friends, I'm not completely myself. Being a geek does have its merits but it can also leave you with some really deep questions. Am I really gonna hold onto the nerd life forever? who knows 🤷♂️

I still have this problem of feeling the need to hide my nerdy side when I’m talking to non-nerd/geek people, specially girls Hopefully I’ll grow out of this “trying to be cool” mindset soon

This... hits very close to home for me. Growing up, I never really was bullied or anything for having nerdy hobbies (I had many other nerdy friends) but I was (and still am) a closeted furry. I've kept it secret for a long time, i think nearly 7 years as of now. I've never really said anything to my family or friends irl (my family in particular makes jokes about furries from time to time and I knew it just wasn't a good idea to tell them). Your video has changed my perspective a bit. I don't know if I'm up for telling my family yet, but maybe I can tell a few irl friends that I trust. I thank you for the ability to get this off of my chest. I needed to say this somewhere.

So when I was back in school (particularly middle and high school) I really liked the sonic the hedgehog franchise, and I still do today, but really didn’t show it. People thought that sonic was a children’s game, and that it’s sucks and it is for stupid 7year olds (no offense to any 7year olds I guess) so I just kept it to myself. I would get excited when a new game would come out, but I won’t just go and ask the person at GameStop for Sonic lost world for the Wii U. I’d look ridiculous as a teenager. So I just kept it to myself. Also, I really couldn’t find anyone with the same interests as me, it just sucked. Today, I can say that I’ve been more open about the things I like, but even now, I still get hate. I really don’t what to change myself just to satisfy other people, but sometimes I feel like it can get to that point. In front of my friends, I was one person, but in front of my family I was another. It was just really frustrating. And the problem is, I’m still like that now. I don’t know if I’m the problem, or society is.
