Jack Arnold was a genius. One of the best Sci-fi directors of the ‘50s - what a legacy!

What a fabulous explanation of this fantastic film! Thanks for having Mr. Arnold bring his perspectives to us.

Never seen this interview. Fantastic insight into the mind of a master director. Imagine what he could do with today’s technology. 👍

Rip Jack Arnold. I just got the DVD of the incredible shrinking man. Great sci fi movie. Thanks for posting this

Why wasn't this classic science fiction film nominated for a best special effects Oscar?
@joelkweskin85452 жыл бұрын
Because in 1957, sci-fi and horror films didn't have the cache they have today, when big name stars and directors and CGI make it more "legitimate" as a cinematic genre.

@@joelkweskin8545 The year this film came out, the Oscar winner for SFX was "the Enemy Below.'' a good film, but I thought Arnold's film was better.

, a film directed by Arnold, might have influenced Spielberg in creating Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind

Probably my favorite film. How is that possible with all the incredible films that have been made ? It has the most existence meaning, especially the ending. The acting by Grant was Oscar worthy. He should have won one... It reached me like only a few films did as a child when I saw it... I don't know how you found this interview, but it is something... -Jeff Goes Random

I have found that I have been watching the ending over and over again during this last week ... so powerful and thought provoking.

Can't believe they haven't made a big budget remake of this?, Maybe that's a good thing?

@@TheHumbuckerboy- yes, Richard Matheson's novel by the same title is beyond thought provoking and one of my favorite SF books. This movie is a little different, but still conveys that ethereal message at the end.

A film to make you think, made me think. I grew up watching this film wondering where he went after he left the screen. Truly wonderful

Indeed, where did he go? How much smaller could he become? What does Science say about that?

This was so well done since special effects were not as easy to do as they are now. Same with the Collossal man.

Beyond fascinating. Arnold was a genius. Hope the kitty wasn't starved for the dollhouse scene, though. 😿🤔

This, for me too, was a special film...because it told a special story -- philosophical as it was frightening, poignant as it was thrilling. I saw it when it first came out, as a seven-year-old (whuh?!), and its ending haunts me to this day

The colorization process has improved a great deal since it was first introduced and this is a movie that is begging to be colorized.
