I would understand people’s stance on canceling someone or even an entity but to my recollection this is the only huge mis-step that has garnered such attention. Like many others that have said bands should really stick to the music and not talk about charged topics such as in the political landscape because, as you see, it makes people judge them not on their talent as a band anymore but rather a view that it could leave a sour taste in one’s mouth potentially forever. Also to note canceling anyone based on looks or weight or opinions should be thought out because, we still have to (wether we like it or not) respect our 1st amendment right for people to express themselves. I’ve been losing respect for Jack Black steadily since he had to be taken home by his wife after going non verbal when smoking weed on getting doug with high. He is legit just a poser. He’s talented, but I don’t think there’s much beyond writing funny and good music

"And many people thought the apology was enough...". Not even a little bit of that is true and you know it. His apology was hollow, disingenuous and immediately rejected. Nobody was shocked the tour was cancelled. Nobody. Very dishonest reporting here.

Apology wasn't enough and many people think Kyle and Jack should be canceled. Especially Kyle...this is an old man that apparently lacks any wisdom despite being an overweight 90yr old. The numbers don't lie 38k views and only 1k support the video which seems to be pro Jack Black.

Honestly if I was on top of the world famous and anybody in my band said something that crazy on stage and we were targeted with threats of cancellation I wouldn’t even go on so quick, I’d chill for a year or two and recollect my thinking and learn thoroughly my mistakes and what I can do to change them but whatever. I mean I’m no fan of cancel culture. He’s deflecting the blame onto his band mate but he didn’t seem too blown away by the comment in the video. Some could argue the contrary. Another example of leaving politics out of your workplace. Free speech can bite you in the ass but thankfully. People can still make that mistake.

The first amendment doesn't apply here because nobody is asking for laws that prohibit Tenacious D from saying what they want. If it was a matter of freedom of speech this kind of speech would most likely not be protected, because it can be easily considered incitement to violence, which is not protected by the first amendment
