It's my 29th birthday today (growing old) and I'm sitting at home, alone with no family or friends around ( I confess a bit of self-pity here)... and listening to this. This song is the water to quench my throat. Hugs to everyone who's growing old.
@musically_insane8 жыл бұрын
+Fares Marek Basmadji I completely understand your sentiment. I am turning 19 this year, and I know that's technically not 'that old', but it sure feels like. I also know what's it like to be away from friends and family and I recently moved to a new country for my college. This song, and music in general has been my mechanism to fight all the loneliness and everything that comes with something that has been so drastic. Cheers! I hope you're doing good and are happy with the way things are.

lol.. 3 years later, and still not 40. I hope that you have had more birthdays and it has gotten better each year. I am 43 and just got put on Jack Garratt this past Sunday and I have fallen completely inlove.. I also shared him with my 25 year old SUN who is a music lover like me! We are never old.. just get older/wiser.. Much love from the US, Fares!

Well this comment was made 3 years ago. I hope you had a great 29th birthday, Fares! I still have a few more years before I turn 29, but I’m already feeling kinda old right now. And it’s not really a pleasant feeling to me.
@creator0004 жыл бұрын
Hi Fares, I turned 60 last year and can tell you nothing changes unless you make it change. I remember the youth of my day was exactly the same as it is today. Maybe less violent crime back then. The days are the same, the nights are also the same, the weeks, months and years are the same so please don't just think you are old and lonely as you have many years to do something about it for the better. For me, I did nothing about it so it is my own fault. This video brings it all home to me when I was just like those boys enjoying and discovering their own self with freedom and wonder in mind. Go on now, push yourself to meet new people and change the coarse of your life as before you know it you will be 60 like me.

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. Both my parents are gone and it's just me and my big brother now. This has been our song since it came out. Being the youngest in the family sucks should nature take it's usual course. My brother means the world to me. Until that day I will cherish every moment from the endless parties and camping trips with our kids to every little stupid squabble ❤

Listening to this song after like 4 years. I still remember the first time when I heard it. I was getting ready for school and saw it on TV. When I grow old, I'll drink and smoke Like I did when youth stayed, youth stayed 'Til the second round When I grow old, the sun will coat Shine on every youth stain, youth stain Never settling down And no wonder I keep you close You're the water to quench my throat And if I never let you go Will you keep me young Keep me young When I grow old, my weathered soul And memories recluse, elusive Help me take them out So keep me young and call my bluffs And help me out when you say, you say There's no room for doubt Say I'm stronger and keep me close And be the water and test my cold And if I never let you go Will you keep me young Keep me young Oh, when my heart stops beating And my blood turns cold And oh, when my heart stops beating And my breath won't flow And oh, when my heart stops beating When you go, oh no, I know Oh, when my heart stops beating And my blood turns cold And oh, when my heart stops beating And my breath won't flow And oh, when my heart stops beating When you go, I'll know I'm... When I grow old, I'll drink and smoke But just as long as you stay, you stay I found a way out

I discovered this song in 2016 and it kept me afloat for a while. Life fell apart, picking up the pieces, never felt whole and might never feel it.. But always learning to be a whole other melody. The constant is the existence of rhythm, what flows through you as we flow through it all. When we listen to things like this we're more in tune. That's all we need, and all there is to it. Who knows what another 7 years will do to the individual notes or which melodies will have stopped, but me I'm going for another play.

Here you are..ready to take the plunge, making that big decision that will change your life probably forever. You have met your girlfriend's parents several times but this is different. This sounds like forever. Everything is set up, everybody knows. She's young but then so are you. She's perfect, she's all you need to finally get out of your darkness. She's the one. You know it. Here you are. Future is finally knocking at your door. You're about to open that door but suddenly you realise. You're too young, you're not ready.You're not living the life you're meant to live, you're not meant to live an ordinary life. You know faith and fear cannot exist together. You feel paralyzed and terrified and your heart is racing out of control. Suddenly, you find yourself running away. Running away from responsibilities, from yourself, from the life you could've had if only you'd dared to...
