Taurus3 sent me the following info: The charming woman in this clip is 1st Lieutenant Sharon Marie Forman, staff nurse at the 85th Evacuation Hospital in Qui Nhon, Viet Nam. She served a year in Vietnam in 1965, and a subsequent year in Japan. She went on to have a long and distinguished career in the military, and was elevated to the rank of Colonel. Eventually, Col. Sharon Forman Bystran became the Chief of Clinical Nursing at Walter Reed Hospital. It is a measure of how respected she is, that 10 years ago, she was chosen to speak at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Ceremony on Veterans Day, representing all women in service. In short, everything we imagined about her in that three minute clip with Jack Jones-the intelligence, charm, and poise-turned out to be true! The commemoration that day, and her moving speech were captured by C-SPAN. She is now Ret. Col. Sharon (Forman) Bystran. Thanks for your service, Col. Bystran! You can watch her speech, 46 years later, in this clip. She begins at 43:00: www.c-span.org/video/?302638-1/vietnam-veterans-memorial-ceremony

Its so wonderful to know the rest of the story. What a great American patriot is Col. Bystran. Serving that tough year in Viet Nam and telling us about it. And then going on to more service to help the enlisted and veterans. This has really made my day!! Thank God for people like this.

I was watching 1st Lieutenant Sharon Marie Forman on C-Span. Wonderful Lady and Wonderful information about the her life story as a Nurse in the Vietnam War. I discovered her because I'm a Big Fan of "Jack Jones" Singing and his Kapp Albums. As I'm a Singer myself. Hearing Jack Singing "Wives and Lovers" to Sharon and the Brave American Troops, on the "Bob Hope" Special Live Show" This was Fantastic. She had a Lovely Smile. ! Jack made the right choice to choose this Lovely Young Looking Nurse Sharon. Thank you Taurus3 Channel for bringing this information to udpert Channel, as it was very entertaining and very educational. I'm from Sydney, Australia and was only 4 or 5 when this was filmed : ) God Bless or the Brave American Soldiers who Served. Stay Safe and Take Care always . That innocence disappeared quickly when one of Charlie’s bouncing Betties informed you that Uncle Sam was unwelcome in THEIR country. More of that innocence would fade when the Ellsberg papers emerged and the wounded vets discovered how little the VA and fat cat politicians aligned with the MIC cared about them. America hasn’t been America for a long time. The last guy who tried to make it great again got torpedoed by the deep state.

It's so surreal to see a '50s-'60s-era big band singer performing for Vietnam-era soldiers, as that war is usually associated with psychedelic rock and folk music. This must have been 1965, the very beginning of the war, when big band music was still relevant and loved and soldiers were a bit older and not 19-year-old draftees.
@muziklvr77762 жыл бұрын
This was filmed in '65. Psychedelic rock didn't hit the scene until the late 60's. Jack Jones was 26/27 years old when this was filmed, not much older than some of the kids here, and was very popular by the early 60's. Les Brown was the band leader who started his band in the mid to late 30's.
