I’ve seen it done, I believe in Hafu’s lobby, possibly DumbDog or 5up. As you say, it makes it look like the morph time ran out. Much easier than morphing, killing, then hoping no one sees you morph back.

Role idea: Bugger (as in, the spy kind of bugs, hidden audio/visual recording devices) Can place cameras wherever, and can look at the last placed camera at any time, anywhere. Nobody else can see from the camera's pov, even from security, but they can see the camera (maybe as an optional setting?)

They have to complete all their tasks, and when they are on their final task the impostor finds out who they are so they have a chance to kill them before they find out who the impostor is or before they can reveal to the rest of the lobby. And of course there’s the chance that they get killed early on. So there is a balance to the role.
