I have wanted to try these pastels fora while but have resisted as there are not many videos of them online! Jerry's has them on sale often, but I wait for the SUPER Sale prices as I am overly conscious of how expensive soft pastels can be! I like the look of the 20 piece sets! lots of choices there! Thanks for creating this video and showing off these pastels. I will be more likely to purchase next super sale I see! Happy Holiday season to you and yours!

Just subscribed. I bought this set after watching Monet Cafe. Your video was awesome! Didn’t catch the name of your sketch pad. I have a lot of 140 lb. Watercolor paper, cold pressed. Hi! Yay so happy to have you as part of the community! The sketchbook I used is one that I made. The paper in it is pastel mat paper. Watercolor is a good starting paper for pastels. ☺️

I just bought a set of 40 of them but not for less then a dollar a half stick. Blick has them for like 2 dollars a half but still cheaper then ludwigs or unison. Your beach drawing was amazing BTW I love what you did with that

This is one that I actually made. I couldn’t find a soft pastel sketch book with sanded paper in it so I started making my own. I find these to be like Unison (a tiny bit softer than Mount Vision). It makes sense that the Richesons are similar to Unison since Jack Richeson used to distribute Unisons. I think it was when that relationship ended, that Richeson came out with their hand rolled line. I lucked into a big set of Richesons for a bargain basement price. I would love the Pacific NW set, but would have to get a big sale price. I agree on the details (a critiques for the MVs too).

The sketchbook book paper is Pastel Mat paper. The sample paper is UArt sanded paper

Am I the only one who blows at the screen when you see dust? Pastel dust, eraser dust, colored pencil dust, it doesn’t matter, I want to blow off all the dust, lol.

I totally I understand that desire! I have to work really hard not to blow pastel dust and instead instead wipe it up or knock it into the garbage can. It’s just so satisfying to blow it away.
