The one he said brings tears to his eyes is the Tonto crape myrtle. Its beautiful and on my wish list.

Thank you. I’ve decided to put one of these in my backyard here in FL and been trying to figure out which color I want….until I saw that. It’s absolutely beautiful, but he doesn’t say what it’s called. So I came to the comments specifically hoping someone mentioned “the one he said brings tears to his eyes”, and not expecting to find it. So, thanks again!

I have a crepe myrtle I planted Father's Day weekend this year. I think I planted it too low AND everytime it rains I have to pull away soil from the base. It did grow at least 10 in this year but I'm still worried it is 3 inches too low. It is only about 3 ft tall should I dig it up and add soil under it so it is not buried in a dip?

I bought a dwarf c. m online about a couple of months ago. it came in a 4" pot and 8" high. I repotted it into a larger pot 6" and it seems to be doing ok, and its constantly showing flower buds. I prune them off, cause it seems to inhibit the vertical growth that i am looking for....eventually...4 feet. No matter how often i prune those buds off, it continues to do so. How do i encourage it to grow vertically? In another month, it will probably go dormant, but i intend to keep it in that pot until next Spring...if it lasts that long.
