Luxturna was approved in 2017. Now it's 2021 with no sign of another treatment for years to come

Yes most of ongoing clinical trials are still in phase II like AMD, RP, Achromatopsia and etc. There is still long way to come. Funding is very helpfull to boost these candidate treatments. And morever, the scientists are very busy and focusing to combat covid -19 right now.

Color blindness gene therapy please. Continue AVA-322 and AVA-323 program. Color blindness ruined my life. I pray to God for over a decade of waiting for human trials since 2009🙏

I might be able to get LUXTURNA soon MAYBE. but I read about the possible side effects and they sound pretty bad and the possibility of blindness if it does go wrong. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it cuz if I would be able to get this that would be a life changing procedure for me.

its a question for both. will this gene therapy still work after covid infection or vaccination? i m asking because after infection body develops some immunity against viruses and covid vaccines are to stop virus infection and hence viruses are not that effective. gene therapy is also based on viruses. please provide some knowledge.
@89loal683 жыл бұрын
It's a different type of virus
@immigrantworld48993 жыл бұрын
It used lentivirus which has no imun response so it’s harmless into your body

@immigrantworld48993 жыл бұрын
@@amitchaurasia1874 I think yes it will. The modified virus (AAV virus) will directly hijack the faulty gene in your retina, RPE65 and produce the protein of interest to make the normal RPE65.
