The thing about Jack challenging Doflamingo's escort that's impressive isn't just that he decided to engage with all of those high-level characters, it's that he walked away from that fight with pretty minimal injuries all things considered (like, he's already recovered from that beating by this point in the story.)

Marco's control over his fruit is that great that he can transform specific parts of his body into phoenix's limbs, while keeping some other human parts. His hybrid form must look something like Pell's, with his phoenix head, wings and claws, while keeping a humanoid shape.

Ancient Zoans have crazy high stamina and health recovery, we got that confirmed already. And personally, I asociate these feats in particular with mammoths already. So it stands to reason that he might be one of the characters with the highest durability/ stamina in the whole story

@John permeswar that's prob more to do with their devil fruits clashing and being opposites than tenacity and physical endurance I think they can defo take a beating, like Akainu did against Whitebeard, but that was an insane amount of plot armour Pretty much Aokiji and Akainu clashing for 10 days you can imagine is more about their powers hitting each others powers. Zoan guys like Jack and Kaido actually take the hit straight up and go on forever

While it's possible that time is a factor for DF awakening, I'm not too sure. When Luffy comments that Katakuri is doing "that thing Doflamingo did", Katakuri responds with something like "naturally, my powers are awakened" or "of COURSE my powers are awakened!". Katakuri says it with the same amount of certainty that he declares "there are even LEVELS of armament!" right after breaking right through Luffy's armament and harming him. I think what is more likely is that for people on the level of Katakuri and higher, their Devil Fruits (if they have one) are more than likely to be awakened at that point for whatever reason (Maybe it's assumed that people at this level are just skilled enough to figure it out?). Doflamingo declaring it a rare ability could simply be because he doesn't operate at anywhere NEAR the level of people like Katakuri and thus to HIM, it SEEMS to be rare. It could very well the same thing we saw with Haki and pre-timeskip OP: Haki only seemed rare because the "outer seas" are weak and don't know much about it, much less how to use it. Once we get to Amazon Lily, we see that TONS of people can freely use even basic armament and in the New World, haki is practically a requirement just to survive (seen by the fact that ALL vice admirals are taught at least basic armament and observation) with even lower ranking warriors like Pekoms having at least BASIC armament. It could very well be that in this arc and the next, we will see far more awakened DF users because Luffy is now fighting characters who exist at a level where Awakening isn't that rare.

Honestly though, when Jack was revealed a 1 billion berry bounty was INSANE, back then in one-piece that was an unfathomably bounty and jack would have clapped any pre time skip antagonist(obviously not the admirals and etc.) himself with probably 1 hi. And the highest known and revealed later on was rogers and white beards which is 5 bil honestly because 1/5 of that bounty is nothing to sneeze at. people take one-piece bounties for granted.

There is a balance that must be struck between not taking them for granted and not letting them be the only thing that matters. Bounties determine threat and that means they should be examined, however that is not to say that someone with a smaller bounty cannot challenge someone with a larger one. It is a matter of finding a middle ground.

Jack functions sort of like Kaido's personal hitman/retrieval specialist. That being said, Jack's decision to continue the operation AFTER learning that Tsuru/Fuji/Sengoku were there was HIS decision. Considering he sunk half the ships and was barely damaged, it might not be as dumb as people think.

@@ziggylarkdust As far as we are aware, kaido is pretty forgiving actually. Instead of simply killing Ashura Douji, he's spent the last 20 years trying to recruit him into the Beast Pirates. He refused to kill Luffy and instead left him alive with the hopes he'd be broken and join the beast pirates. Despite his failures against getting Doflamingo, he was still tasked with going to Zou and then tasked with trying to persuade Ashura Douji yet again to join the Beast Pirates.

I dont think time is the only factor for awakening. It would really go against one of the main message of OP regarding pirates: You cant born to be a yonko, you have to earn it. Also in general Oda tells us people who born into a position of power are the worse kind because they dont appreaciate what they have. Simply having a fruit and waiting would go against this. Also think about it. It it would be only time then Celestial dragons could give fruits to themselves when they are children then grow up in safety then become immensely powerfull by doing nothing. I think either awakening has something to with conquerors haki (both confirmed awakened user had it) or its tied to battle and emotions just as advanced haki. That would make much more sense imo.

Even if they could not damage him, fighting him endlessly would definitely tire him out. If he did not eventually choose to retreat then there is a possibility that he could die from exhaustion. Rare in fiction, but possible. A body can only be pushed so far for so long before things begin to quit or break.

I don't think Ashura is "even" with Jack...Oda hasn't specified yet that cutting wounds are the arch weakness of awakened Zoans. Because unless that's the case I think we still heavily underestimate his endurance. He honestly seems the most tank-like character besides Yozu, we have seen him taking the (from the top of my head) most powerful attack in the story of One Piece to the face and saw him waking up not acting defeated but just annoyed and thinking "What are you waiting for? Get me out already!" I think Ashura couldn't seriously fight Jack for that much longer than he did...at this point I think the calamities could only defeated by like all the minks with Sulong vs Jack, maybe Kid could lead a fight with some other hard hitters against Queen while Sanji and Zoro could have a great fight against King. I think there won't be many 1v1s

Or, Jack is simply stronger than people's headcanons thought he was. Jack feeling he had a chance against Fuji+Tsuru+Sengoku and then ending the fight with 2/4 ships sunk and very minor damage done to himself means he's strong as fuck (befitting his 1 billion berry bounty). He could have just lifted Jack himself and throw him to the water or throw him away past the horizon. He could have thrown a meteor on the ship the moment the battle started and Jack dowsnt have a power to counter that like Doffy or Law. He could have just sunk the ship with his gravity just like he did the first time we see him in the gambling house. He could have lifted jack and take him to impel down floating in the air like that and Jack wouldn't be able to do anything. He also could have destroyed the ship from the side with a push like he did in his fight with Sabo that destroyed buildings. And those are things that he could have perfectly done due to what he show in Dressrosa, not to mention he may have other things to do that we didnt see yet.
