Happy 2nd birthday Jack/ Buddy the cutest little surfer/ skateboarder on the internet! I remember we spent a small fortune, hiring a hall, two huge bouncy castles, a heap of food, a big cake and party favours for all his little friends (I swear it ended up costing about £500) and our 3 year old had a meltdown and spent the entire party in the kitchen. We didn’t realise at that time that our son (and his baby sister) had/ have autism. He was totally overwhelmed by noise, that was the last all out birthday party we had, after that we had smaller family oriented birthdays and happy babies and no meltdowns. It’s really overwhelming having all the grown ups and kids focussed on you when you are an introvert - my son is 15 now and still not a fan of parties or the attention on him. That’s cool, he’s super smart, an amazing kid and that’s what matters. Jack may just be an introvert - I know how he feels! Big hugs to you guys though, as I know how it feels!

I almost fully cried when I saw Jack's expression and excitement for his helicopter. You always want your child to love your present the most but often they end up not caring or liking as much as some other gifts for some reason so you get down about it. I was hoping he'd like it the most. Yay! Jack! Happy birthday! Planning a doing a bday party is so much work.

And please,oh please don't listen to the people telling you to cut his beautiful hair !! Just cuz he's a boy doesn't dictate mandatory short hair cuts. I have 4 children, the first two are girls and years later we started all over again and had two boys only 12 & 1/2 mos. apart , I loved the baby hair and didn't cut the first boys hair till he was about three, you do it when you feel like it's the right time !! My ex mother in law didn't speak to us for a few weeks when we cut our second son's hair because she loved his curls so much !! ( If only I knew that was all it would take to shut her up I would've done it alot sooner, lol jk !!) Anyway, I am so happy for you guys because the type of relationship you have is rare and beautiful !! I wish you all the best in life and I think that people like you are rare and special and I think that your children are blessed to have such loving, caring parents and you are blessed to have them as well. My granddaughter was born on the same day as Jack and when the family stood around her to sing happy birthday she also didn’t like it and became really shy and started to cry. It’s very overwhelming having everyone stare at you and loudly singing at you. Happy Birthday Jack 🎉

I can’t even take a compliment graciously without deflecting it away from myself and turning the situation around to praise others instead! You were exactly right when you said it is like home movies! There will always be times when Jack doesn’t want to be filmed and that’s ok; it’s just a part of growing up and being a little human. Often, at his age right now, it can get overwhelming to have a whole bunch of people around, especially when it is a party. My mom once gave me a great tip for my kids when they were growing up. She said to try to keep the number of guests the same as his age. (ie., 3 years old, 3 kid guests, 4 years old, 4 kid guests, etc.) That way, as you child gets older he becomes more accustomed to having more kids around. I could tell Jack was a bit frustrated with having so many kids around and not being able to keep up with them. I loved how you had the fun little, calm, party for him with Sarah’s mom. These were all of Jack’s favorite people, and it was so sweet to see that he was in his element! Happy Birthday, Jack! It’s been so fun watching you from the day you ere born, to your first step, your first word, and now you you have another first in your life coming soon! …a first sibling! Can’t wait to see what a wonderful big brother you will be!

Ah yes. Rookie mistake. This is why I never opened the presents out of the box until all presents are open. You’ll be there for HOURS!!!! He looked like he had a good time. Poor guy. Nap times are so important. When they’re that young their little bodies are use to their routines any little teeny tiny thing can throw them off. I use to plan our entire lives around their schedules as much as possible. It wasn’t always possible, but we’d have to decide if it was worth the meltdown or not. You guys did a great job with his birthday. It’ll be such a beautiful moment for him to look back on when he’s older. Sarah and I actually had the same due date with baby #2 for both of us. Tragically my husband and I lost our little one early on. I have been rooting for you Sarah because I know how scary pregnancy can be! I’m five foot even my husband is 6 foot 1 and we had an 8 lb baby girl 5 years ago. My daughter was the exact same way at all of her birthday parties. One thing that we ended up doing is just leaving the gifts for her and she would just eventually open them up. It was just sensory overload. Plus for some reason she never liked cake. We ended up doing donut birthday parties for her. They were her best birthday's. My daughter is 25 now and we have done all sort's of different birthday's as we have 5 kids. Have fun with it do not stress you are doing great
