Gibson Custom Shop is releasing a Jack White signature model Diddley Bow. Their best luthiers have taken this version apart and meticulously copied each part in perfect detail, right down to the wood grain, level of dirt on the wood, the brand of electrical tape, type of wire, coke bottle, nail rust, etc. They acquired the actual hammer Jack used in this video to craft each instrument. They analyzed this video using the latest software to exactly reproduce the force and velocity and number of hammer blows. They sought out the actual cows and their manure and brought them into the custom shop to have them watch each instrument being skillfully crafted. Each of the 50 limited edition models will be signed by Jack. MSRP $185,000 - which includes a potato sack gig bag, a DVD documentary on the planning and production of the Bows, and 8 x 10 framed photo of each cow.

What an intro to a brilliant documentary. I loved Jack's whole philosophy of ''nothing truly good ever comes easy to you''. That all good things in life are meant to be acquired through hard work and overcoming diversity. Life should be a constant struggle of human will against the elements, as he so aptly puts it.

@frenikfri7 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of people here, who don't understand the message with this intro. The point isn't that gear doesn't matter. The point is that being a musician, isn't something you ´choose´. It's something you're born as. The early blues players in America played homemade drumsets, cheap guitars and out-of-tune harmonicas. They felt a need to express themselves through music. That's the conditions of the musician. He can't help it. He can't not play.
@stuwest36534 жыл бұрын
No, what he meant was music has little to do with the quality of the equipment or instrument being used.
@lesternesterenco395711 жыл бұрын

sooo? what is he saying? tell me, because it looks like i am a "failed human". speak it out, for us dumbos.
@sacredgeometry8 жыл бұрын
I think its a statement on people who are so preoccupied with gear that they forget to make music. The real honest desire to make music means that if you have it inside you, you would make it without an instrument, bashing pots and pans if thats what it takes. It's a compulsion, one that doesn't need thousands of pounds worth of equipment to realise.
@metalhusky8 жыл бұрын
sacredgeometry sounds pretentious. of courese the player must be good, but good gear is fucking important. can't shred a Yngwie Malmsteen solo on this piece of wood, a bottle and a string, can ya?
@sacredgeometry8 жыл бұрын
metalhusky Its not pretentious at all, I have taught music for 17 years and have seen it happen to people time and time again. It's an attitude that is completely distracting, there are very few musicians out there that have it as a primary focus that are any good at all. The ones that are good tend to have it as a tertiary or tangental interest and it has more to do with obtaining a sound than assuming that it will make them better at their craft. You can shred a malmsteen solo on a £20 ukulele if thats what you want to do.

I get what he's saying, Gear isn't everything. I know this because, I have a dirt cheap guitar and a dirt cheap amp, and I don't care. I'm writing music with both and I don't care if i have 30 pedals or a vintage Marshall. If it's the only thing I can use to write music with, it won't stop me from writing songs. I've taken that to heart now.

I hope you're safe and having a nice day.

Jack White is my main inspiration for wanting to make music at all. There's never been anyone like him...exceptin maybe John Bonham in a way? When they went on stage both men they became giants. Jack would have such massive in your face sound that was so raw and authentic and to me extremely enjoyable that it just changed me. Bonham would bang the drums into oblivion lol. Jack's making such a big and bold and musically enthralling sound is something i go back to and air guitar and drum my ass off for the length of at least elephant every time i remember....i love Jack White (like a little brother).....lol but sincerely his music is what helped me find my own musical personality and taste...and he's such a bad ass and classy dude...couldnt have asked for a better inspiration...man to look up to when i was a teenager. Thank you Jack and Meg White. You two fkin rocked my world and i can never ever show you enough appreciation.
