Jack is my ultimate idol his birthday is in like two weeks and imma pay my respects to him by creating a facebook page for him and not listening to any other music than his. Imma dress in only black red and white and imma post happy birthday to him in every single you tube song of his. JULY 9th 1975 a god was born

I know the lyrics were by Williams but Jack White did a great job of making a Williams-esque tune and melody. Gained a lot more respect from me for this

This is insane. Of all the covers i've heard him do, I never would have expected him to do Hank Williams. I suppose it isn't beyond him, but really caught me off guard. He's such an amazing artist.

well of course no one can compare to the one an only Hank, but damn he's pretty good with his guitar! His music is all over the place and I love it

"You Know That I Know" is from the Lost Notebooks produced by Bob Dylan. I cannot find any reference to Jack White changing whatever lyrics Hank Williams created. But, I think Jack picks projects that speak to him. Been analyzing Blunderbuss for the past few days. I'm still trying to figure out if his anger is directed specifically at Meg or the break up of the White Stripes....I think the anger goes way beyond his divorce from Karen. But then again, who really knows???

This song was a part of the Hank Williams lost tracks in where multiple artists including jack, bob dylan, etc., recorded since he did not

Why? He loves Hank Williams and classic country music! He's made that clear many times. Also this isn't the first Hank Williams song he's done he also did Tennessee Border with White Stripes!
@cfields9112 жыл бұрын
Actually, you're right man. I was thinking of a different Hank Williams song he covered. It just slipped my mine.

Jack White has done a bunch of bluegrass too not to mention producing Loretta Lynns last album. I had never heard of him until Jan 2013. And he is even better live than in the studio
@hi5guy197912 жыл бұрын
his roots are in Mississippi blues actually. Robert Johnson, Son House, etc. However, he does country pretty damned good too.

Jack may not have a country voice, but he has a country soul, so I will excuse him.
@SummersPep11 жыл бұрын
yeah, Jack's Captain Beefheart covers are really good too... and he is hard to properly cover. Actually The Black Keys can cover him as well, they have quite a few Beefheart covers. Really great ones too. "Party of Special Things To Do" is one of TWS/Jack's and "Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles", "Them Eyes" are TBK's. ;)

Well, actually I like to think that the white stripes took a country song, Jolene, and turned it into this edgy, raw track, basically meaning I respectfully disagree with that.. But, Hank did record this, actually. You can find it right here on youtube. But as far as your last comment goes, I believe you are 100 percent right my friend.
