Hey bro, just wanted to give you a quick shout out and recognize the effort and attention to detail you paid to the production of this video; the cinematic quality of you just free-riding through the city, the cuts between locales... beautifully done. Being real, that was so captivating that it's kept my attention throughout the video far beyond when that sequence was shot. Compliments to you and the editor man.. keep 'em rollin'

Looks tempting Marty maybe a spare would be nice after that V13 purchase earlier this year. I learning something after purchasing that high quality EUC that can go 50 miles and hour without cutting out....and that is that these wheels will keep evolving such as this lynx now.. Smaller, Faster built for Extream riding conditions with a better overall range, the high price is an obsticle In todays world but with time the price will drop and if more refinements come out such as a 4500watt motor, redundant BMS, a 16in tire maybe... Ect Ect Ect the wait will be worth while.

Comparing amps between 100v and 150v systems ? Of course low volt system draws more amps. Doesn't mean it's much more less efficient. Definitely not by comparing the amps... Let me just tell what I mean. 120 amps * 150 volts = 1800 watts of power 180 amps * 100 volts = 1800 watts of power numbers are for example. looking at these number only they use the same watt hours and are as efficient

Exactly. We compare battery capacity in watt hours for a reason. Comparing amps or amp hours only works if the voltages are the same. Otherwise we should use watts or watt hours
@supercurioTube
@supercurioTube Жыл бұрын
In that case, the current expressed is the phase/motor current. This is not related to the battery voltage nor current. The wheels are obviously not draining 100+A from the battery packs 😉 But still, I suppose that the motor on the Lynx is more torque-oriented than the Sherman S one (lower kV rating). That's why it takes lower phase current to generate the "same" mechanical output. But you can't compare the phase current between motors with different parameters anyway, so it's not a valid comparison I agree.

In regards to the Power Efficiency: 1. The display shows phase line amps and not battery amps. 2. I do realize that to make that claim I do need more data to back this up, as there are many factors, so I’ll update when Leaperkim provides proper data.

Oh, I wonder what was wrong with the last video. Reposting this comment: efficiency is about wattage, not amperage. The Lynx and the Sherman are using roughly the same wattage, since the Lynx is higher voltage. So in that particular test, neither showed an efficiency advantage.

yoyo, so heres the thing. It can free spin 168km? or around 165km, but I am speculating that its only under field weakening. This means that it's not truly capable of going at that speed [168km] with the same amount of torque it has. So the "limiting" is actually not limiting, more so, the 168km freespin is a cheat code to reach higher speed, but killing safety. And truly hitting 125km is the normal freespin, like an ex30. And yes ex30 Field Weakening can hit 140km. Ok yea its not 168km, but its also not 151v. So I think my point stands valid.
@VECTOR_Coasters
@VECTOR_Coasters Жыл бұрын
the lynx is the first wheel to free spin at over 150kph but they slowed it down due to safety. the ex30 does 110kph free spin and they didn’t slow it down. also the new commander gt pro does a 200kph free spin aka a riding speed of 100mph
@shinobieuc
@shinobieuc Жыл бұрын
@@VECTOR_Coasters after further review, my assumption stands correct. Lynx was able to hit 150kmh by using field weakening. Thats not something everyone can ride mindlessly. So its true speed is 125kmh, not 150kmh. I dont consider anything with a high amount of field weakening its true potential speed since getting close to that speed is impossible without it cutting off. I mean just imagine if on the ex30 they tune up the field weakening to the point where its no longer actual riding speed and its just a number flex. To the point where theres almost no torque, where its no longer rideable on anyone of any weight, for them to achieve 200mph. Not really reasonable.

Hi. Cool fimling. But energy efficiency raises questions… After all, one wheel is 100V, and the other is 150V, and energy is the product of current strength and voltage. As we can see the result of power is the same.

Could we see a Patton 2.0 made from the lighter magnesium alloy like the new Lynx?! 💡 The Lynx, a 20 inch wheel, weighs the same as its predecessor, the Patton, a 16 inch wheel, thanks to the use of magnesium alloy. How much would the Patton weigh if renewed with the lighter material? It seems like a logical upgrade that would increase the desirability, especially for city use. And then while they're at it, include a smart BMS
@supercurioTube
@supercurioTube Жыл бұрын
Hey Jack! Thanks for the review. The lower motor current you observe on the Lynx vs Sherman S during climbing likely means that it's a higher torque motor configuration. That doesn't mean that it's more efficient. You'd need to look at the system power to know that, not only the phase current.

7:19 This is wrong: Efficiency is a measure of power consumed to perform work. Power is current (amps) X volts. Sherman S: 180A X 100V = 18kW (kilowatts) Lynx: 120A X 150V = 18kW Same power consumption, same weight, same work, so same efficiency.
@supercurioTube
@supercurioTube Жыл бұрын
It is most likely wrong indeed but not for the math you developed. The display shows motor current, not battery current, therefore the system voltage is not taken into account. Lynx motor taking lower current for the same work means that its windings & magnets are configured for higher torque than Sherman S however, if we can trust this test. That also means that Lynx's motor will have more torque output than the Sherman S, even if the firmware limit is still at 300A max.
@thetastefultoastie6077
@thetastefultoastie6077 Жыл бұрын
@@supercurioTube Whoops! The bus voltage will be transformed to a lower voltage by the inductance of the motor. Please forgive my quick knee-jerk comment. The Kv of the Lynx motor is about 11.7, and 10.4 for the Sherman S. So the actual motor voltage at 5kph will be around 4.5V(Lynx) 5V(Sherman S). So the Lynx is using 536 watts and the Sherman S 900 watts. Because the Kv ratings are similar, the motor voltages are similar, but there is a large difference in motor current, so there is a large difference in power used for the same torque applied.

@7:20 -- I wish everyone would stop talking about amps completely and just talk about power (watts). It leads to so much confusion, such as your test results, which are invalid. Less amps to go up the same hill... okay, but your ignoring the massive difference in voltage between the two wheels. More efficient power usage would mean less watts consumed to do the same task. If you assume both unicycles were at 100% voltage (and assume no sag), then both wheels used the same amount of power: Sherman S: 180 amps * 100 volts = 18,000 watts peak Lynx: 120 amps * 150 volts = 18,000 watts peak

I'm interested to kno how choose the size of the suspension. I'm not an agressive rider, even if i ride sometimes in offroad. I hesitate between the 62 and the 66 size. My weight is almost 80/82kg with all my Gear.

Yeah 80km of range at this kind of speed is nothing special or impressive for 2700Wh. Not a good thing, not a bad thing, no surprise either.

@@supercurioTube I was kind of surprised with 95kg getting 80km really I think for off road, jumps and some spurts of speed it's pretty good without being too heavy

I assume the warmer LED headlight colour has a higher CRI, which would make it easier to differentiate between things at night.

Yes absolutely! My light was super yellow imho but after going back to the company they fitted me with a production light which toned it back a little
