Jack Excellent Video!!! I have tested GenerateBlocks and KadenceBlocks for several weeks. I feel that Kadence is a diamond. In my own tests, I notice that Kadence is a little bit more heavy. However this is insignificant. On the other hand, it's remarkable the amazing ease of use of Kadence. Generate Blocks need to rethink in order to get the same level of UX that Kadence has. Each day, I love so much the works of Kadence team. I repeat: it's a diamod.
@JackCao3 жыл бұрын
Yup, I've concluded that as well. If I were to add just the button block from the respective plugins, the test results would have been different. The button block from Generate blocks do load lesser CSS.
@simongraves76283 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, The one thing you didnt mention was the limitations on the Kadence Row block, like how you cannot define column widths on anything other than Desktop view and have to use the set layouts provided (or use additional CSS). The GenerateBlocks Grid block is also much more versitile than the Kadence Row block allowing you to have a set amount of columns with content wrapping into new rows in the same grid, then allowing you to have different columns set on different devices. Kadence may be easier (that's debateable, I find it less intuitive), but its definately the least flexible of the two (contrary to your final comment). For the record I have the Kadence membership (paid $599!) as well as GP / GB Pro and have used both extensively.
@JackCao3 жыл бұрын
In Kadence there are responsive views, you don't need extra css codes. And you can even set the mobile columns. I honestly think Kadence blocks is versatile, but maybe you can test it out more. I've used both extensively before making this video. 🙂 I have done a dozen of tutorials with Kadence's row layout too.
@simongraves76283 жыл бұрын
I already have tested it out and the GenerateBlocks Container / Grid system is much more flexible than the Kadence offering.
@MrOliver14443 жыл бұрын
I think both are amazing. I combine them. I use generateblocks and fill it up with Kadence blocks like accordions, tabs, table of content and timer. The pro version is better in generateblocks

@ajmorris11963 жыл бұрын
In GenerateBlocks you added two containers, 1 for the background image, 1 for containing the grid. I'm curious why you did that? It did provide extra work and outputted extra code that was unnecessary. Instead you could have added a GB grid into the container with the background image, applied the proper padding and would have been all set. You would have ended up with a page that had less HTML and CSS code and resulted in a faster loading page.
@JackCao3 жыл бұрын
That's exactly the reason why I did extra steps! To see which is more "lightweight". Of course, I know it is easy to just do everything in one container, but this test is about playing around with the paddings and margins, which are the basic functions of layouts. But nice that you catch on to that 😀
@JackCao3 жыл бұрын
@AJ Morris Can you let me know if the following is what you've suggested: Generate Blocks: 1 Container 1 Grid Kadence Blocks: 1 Row Layout (1 Container 1 Grid Combined) Or, are you trying to imply this: Generate Blocks: 1 Container 1 Grid Kadence Blocks: 2 Row Layouts Currently, it is this: Generate Blocks: 2 Containers 1 Grid Kadence Blocks: 2 Row Layout (2 Container 2 Grids Combined) The current testing method shared in the video already puts Kadence Blocks in disadvantage, because its row layout is a combination. A fair test would have been the first option.

Hi, just wondering if a theme or block or plugin hold the same position in your tests across mobile as well as desktop. I read along time ago how one sided mobile use was and I can't help but feel that mobile has an even bigger dominance now. To make a serious test, you need a serious, complex layout. Not just a couple of images. Actually, there should be no images at all, because those will take most of the load time. Also, if you have such a simplistic layout, the server and internet speed, that varies randomly, have too much of an impact compared to DOM size and quality. What you could look at is the output code quality and DOM size. Semantic correctness. Accessibility. These things make a difference. I don't think the measurements in this video are useful at all.
