4 years ago, I confronted my nephew and his wife about their excessive drinking. Our relationship up until then was tight, and then it ended. I'd do it again.

This episode hit close to home. To put myself through school, I was working on oil exploration crews at least half of any given year in Alaska or other remote locations. Our major recreation was drinking. Unfortunately, I embraced this life style a little too enthusiastically. I thinkmy wake up call was when I ran into a woman I had met and I had absolutely recollection of her. At thst point I realized that thinhs needed to change. I didn't stop drinking but I made sure I never got drunk again. That was almost 50 years ago and fortunately I have made it last.

Jack, I want to let you know that I am a huge fan of your books. For the past year, I was getting bored of re-reading the same books and wanted to try something new and heard about your books in a podcast (either on BRCC or Change Agents or Cleared Hot) and picked up your first book The Terminal List at my local library. I've enjoyed them ever since. When you and Ryan were talking about the critics and haters that sometimes get more limelight than those who give you praise, I totally understand. I want to thank you for taking the time to go around to your social media channels to reach out to people and thank them for posting stuff. I have thoroughly enjoyed your podcast and your books and I look forward to reading more of your books when I can purchase them. I too have a desire to build a library that is sorted my own way and currently have my books in boxes. Luckily I haven't bought any doubles though haha! Keep up the great work! God bless!

Being confronted by a loved one about any kind of detrimental habit can be hard to receive. Choosing to accept that constructive criticism and make the hard "right" choice over the easy "wrong" choice is a sign of maturity. Good job Army. Keep making those good choices!! Every day!

Those packaged meals from the mess hall are called hot boxes, and regardless of what's in them they're always covered in gravy. Hence why I haven't eaten gravy since 2006 lol

Thanks for the cursory explanation of what went down (I didn't know). When I mentioned this story to my adult daughter she asked, did the guy discuss the marital abuse? I said what abuse? She said, Come on Dad. A wife will put up with a lot until the abuse is threatening the core of her well being. She said The guy is living in the Masculine Wilderness....disclaimer, she produces the Masculine Wilderness Podcast.
