Couple of comments. (1) The plastic thing in the 120V plugs is most likely a tamper resistance feature, not water splash feature. Indoor outlets are now required to be TR, and that logically might be extending to power boxes. (2) It makes sense that they suggest 6 100W panels to actually provide 400W. If you use less than 6, likely you won't achieve 400W under any typical condition.
@BePatient888Ай бұрын
No it's misinformation. You can only do four panels, to ensure you stay within the V/Amp ratings of the ports.
@evahsiaАй бұрын
@@BePatient888 Disagree. As I said, typical conditions. As long as you stay under the Voltage limit (by intelligent serial/parallel wiring), the solar input circuit will control the current within the 400W limit. In principle, you can even go above 6 panels, wired in parallel.
@BePatient888Ай бұрын
@@evahsia (This is info you can find in MANY, MANY basic solar energy info sources) Overloading your solar charge controller can cause serious issues, including (1) Overheating: If the controller is asked to handle more power than it’s designed for, it can overheat. This could lead to failure or permanent damage. (2) Reduced Efficiency: When a charge controller is overloaded, it may not be able to effectively manage the power from the solar panels, which reduces the overall efficiency of your system. (3) System Damage: In extreme cases, an overloaded charge controller can damage both the controller and the batteries, leaving you with costly repairs. It's safer to stay within the stated parameters if you're working with an ALL-IN-ONE solution like these Jackery's. But to each his own. Merry Christmas.
@evahsiaАй бұрын
@@BePatient888 I agree with everything you said above. Particular with respect to the cheaper units. But you missed a couple of points. Generally speaking, it is overloading the voltage that causes damage, NOT overloading the current. It is important to distinguish the two when trying to understand actual failure rates. Simply saying excess POWER can damage the controller is ignoring the details, because one can overload the voltage without overloading the power. Second you keep ignoring my main point, that one may not get 100W under TYPICAL CONDITIONS. Specifically, if I KNOW that the 100W panel will NEVER produce more than 80W under my conditions (e.g., high latitude), then why do you insist I can't use 5 panels, wired in parallel, for a total of 400W? That is what you called misinformation.
@BePatient888Ай бұрын
@@evahsia It's misinformation on the website. The product manuals explicitly list 400W total. Jackery markets these units to people who don't necessarily know the more technical aspects of solar panels, or properly putting together safe power stations. BTW, not sure how you'll get 5 panels connected properly, because, in Jackery's manual, it states: " When the two inputs are used at the same time, please make sure to use the same type of solar panel and the number of solar panels in the two inputs must be the same to avoid damage or charging problems of the equipment due to inconsistent voltages of the two channels." And the illustrations show you shouldn't have 3 on one side, and 1 or 2 on the other.

Recently got an Ecoflow Delta 3 1500 for $635 before tax at Costco. It gave me 89% of capacity with an 805W AC load. Love it. Added it to my stable of 2 other Ecoflows. I also got turned away from Jackery due to the reviews and lost trust in them after visiting their site. I recently bought a Pecron for an off grid shed project. Can't trust a brand that can't get information right on their site. It's like they couldn't be bothered. So why would they bother with a warranty or a good quality? They may be great, but perception is reality. I spent 1200 with Ecoflow instead of Jackery because of my perception of quality and reliability.

When charging/running loads, they might have louder fans, but don’t reach stupid high temperatures like my Anker 300AC. I ran my Anker 300 with a 275W load for an hour, it reached 52C/126F !!! I did the same with my Jackery 300Plus, it reached 37C/98F. I thought the Anker product would be superior to Jackery, I was wrong. Stick with something that isn’t going to burn your house down.

I bought one from Amazon on Black Friday for $349.00 (was $399.00 but they had $50 coupon and free shipping if I agreed to delivery in January which I guess is so they could buy them in a predictable bulk shipment). Hopefully I still get it at that price and it ships. My intent is to have this in the back pantry/washroom hooked up to my solar array (still waiting on that) which is going to be 1600 watts max, going into the MPPT to a 24 volt battery, and then the battery will have both connections to the solar input drawing 400 watts, and the Jackery will have a modern fridge plugged in as well as a small 250w ceramic heater to keep that area from freezing in the winter. Lots to work on for that but thanks for that detail about the 400W solar input. I too thought it was going to 600w, and that maybe there was the capability of more but it was underrated for some reason.

@@adriftatlas Yep, exactly and it gets me around the necessity for a permit since it will not be hooked into my house or grid power ! Plus my son will take it camping sometimes. I also have a 1200w (in reality 600w) wind turbine for the days when it is windy across my field which is pretty much every day. That will hook into the 24v battery, and I suppose I can use my old 1000w PS inverter hooked up to the battery as well, but that will be turned off most of the time. My son is tired of lugging his big Champion 8500w inverter generator to the campgrounds so that they can play music and run a rice cooker and a blender for drinks LOL. The jackery fits that need for 350 bucks. It was part of my disaster preparedness supplies, and hunting/glamping/fishing trips. The other brand solar panel has been REALLY good in tests, and it came with the 7909>8020 adapter. I got it for $183 BF, it seems to be consistently priced at $229 with a $30 coupon, since then. It is not bi-facial, but has put out as much, sometimes slightly more, than my Jack panel. It has 4 kickstands, instead of 2, and it has a built in zippered pouch for stowing the cables. The cable is not removable. Could be an issue for replacement. It is a definitely a pro or a con, potentially. I will happily let you know more about that other panel, if you have a curiosity. I really dislike proprietary connectors.

Got this on sale at Amazon for $399 (Black Friday sale), then got a second for sale again in December, for $749, that included one 200W Solar Saga solar panel. I did my research, and completely agree with EVERYTHING on this video about how Jackery hides the specs, or misreports them, or just reports them in THE most confusing manner. I think they do this to make it harder for people to buy non-Jackery after market equipment (to save money). But if you educate yourself, you can do this anyhow with sufficient adapters and connectors. The solar inputs are DC8020 now, whereas the old Jackery's were DC7909. Be aware and get adapters.

At 5:19, I had to find all the specs by downloading the manual from their website which lists all the specs in detail. From what I gather from the manual the two solar inputs are rated at 200 watts each for a total of 400 watts when using both inputs. To take advantage of the 400watt solar charging you will need two solar panels that are each rated for at least 200 watts. I believe if you plug in a single 400 watt panel to one of the inputs this unit will only charge at 200 watts. The manual does say you can get a splitter cable from Jackery to split the two solar connections into one, so the solar charging is somewhat proprietary and non-standard.

Why only 85%? if you want cell balancing, it needs to hit 100%. You'll eventually get cell drift and loss of capacity. It's a good unit for me so far. Runs the frig during a blackout no problem. Yes, their website is somewhat misleading especially for the older obsolete lithium ion models. I've had good luck contacting their customer service with my previous Jackerys. Even though their marketing can be lacking, their product is not. The whole solar wattage in misrepresentation is not a deal breaker! I bet 80% of users buying this will just be charging it by wall plug anyways. They were blowing these out for weeks on Amazon for as little as $399 plus a $60 off coupon for black Friday week. Price is usually better on Amazon rather than their website. Keep in mind when you buy elsewhere, you need to register the serial number on the Jackery website and you get a warranty extension. For the often $400 - $500 sale price, it cannot be beat! My buddy bought the old 1000 a year ago for a 1,000 bucks... The V2 is so much better for half the price!

Has anyone tried to use more than 400w to charge thru the solar (dc) ports? What happens? Does it shut down? Does it have protection that only allows 400w to entet the unit? Are the terminals in fact limited to 200w each or could you put 400w thru one terminal with solar panels or perhaps a bluetti charger 1 dc to dc charger? Can anyone help with any og these questions?? Thank you in advance.

I just bought a brand new Jackery. It is promised to do 10 A on the DC side, but I’m only getting max 7 A also on my app when I subscribe to emergency charging at sometimes doesn’t activate anybody else having issues.?

Have to agree with you. I like my 2 Jackery 500's I bought when they first came out years ago. But I will never buy another Jackery because of their proprietary solar charging cables and input plugs.

Jackery was my first power station. Jackery 300 plus. I loved it but now that I have an anker solix, I’m loving it much more

Anyone here have one of these? I got one but it will only wall charge (using their cable) at 360w --not 1000w. I believe I reset it a couple of times, same AC charge rate tops out 360w and it's at about 40 percent capacity. Am I missing something? TIA.

Yes mine does that but once the internal battery warms up she rams the watts into her

If Jackery ships it to you, they will not let you return it, even if it is defective.

Caught this on BF. Found some codes, knocked it down to $330. I would not purchase this for $800. That is F'n ridiculous.

This guy has the worst capacity testing of any solar site. Use a watt meter for Christ's sake. It's cheap and it's accurate. You get an actual number instead of "well it should be 45 min but it's 37 mins crap."

jackery's shady practices continue. i created an account with a throwaway alias email because you can't use their app without first creating an account and then logging in. i get a spam email from them with a bogus $200 coupon. i tried the coupon and it says it is not valid for items in my cart. small print says coupon is not valid for new items. that means it's only to get rid of their old stock. what a waste of time. so i deleted the app. i won't buy stuff on their site & use the account if i have to set something up that requires their stupid app then delete the app again.

I don't like the front plugs. It looks very tacky. I don't know why the new ecoflow have the 120 outlets in front. I don't want to see plugs

Yeah, it's all about aesthetics and looking good when camping and sitting in the dark during a week long power outage...

I don’t get the hype with all these generators? They seem to be useless for anything you really need other than charging electronics? Am I wrong?

We power an off grid cabin for 1 to 2 days with my old 500wh jackery. My kids just bought me this for Christmas, now we can power a microwave if we wish to, and double the watt hours

Jackery is all about marketing. I remember a few years ago when every RVer, Van Lifers, outdoors, etc youtube channels were promoting Jackery. Of course Jackery gave them free units to promote them. Personally, I would NEVER buy a Jackery.

Jackery is craptastic company. Started by selling poorly made power banks and now is forced to improve to stay competiive by serious competitors and BS free reviewers such as your channel.

It 💯% does NOT fully charge in 1.7 hours. They falsely advertise the 1 hour quick charge line that is the factory setting. When in fact that’s an ‘emergency’ use only setting. Just got my new Jackery today. Right out of the box, had 29%. Still showed 4.6 hours to fully charge. So, it’s probably more like 7 hours to fully charge. More false advertising by Jackery. The company is like a habitual liar. 🤬
