It is optimized so well. They nailed it. It runs so smoothly and with beautiful graphics. I have a 970, so it is an old card (I know...). But I can run it with graphics that make me think, "Wow!" Many new games I can't even run at the lowest settings, even if the graphics are so bad that they look like a PS1 game. 😂 Sorry for my Englishen. 🤫

It was the fall of the series. The game when the series went backwards without innovation. BC2 -> BF3 -> BF4 was the golden era. And BF4 was more of a BF3.5 after all. Lets hope we get a proper Battlefield 5 with BF 2025.

Better than the following BFs. They were too cluttered and messy. People could 'hide' camping just by staying still nearly anywhere. What a lot of people don't get is that photo-realism doesn't necessarily make a 'game' good and it can make it worse.

I found it addictive for those reasons too, but another super important reason I found it addictive was because of the progression system. Classic 120(+20) level BF military rank, every promotion was so satisfying, having to unlock and buy weapons with war bonds, not to mention unlocking pieces of history to read about.. for a hobby war and weapon enthusiasts it blew my mind. Every session was special. I always wanted to play basically. And that I did lol. 1000+ hours. Loved every minute

I fully understood how good it was. I have close to 4000 hrs in the game combined in PS and Xbox. I told my friends DICE would screw up and not make anything close to this game and I was right. I could write a PHD level thesis on it and what DICE has gotten wrong since then. The short answer is BF1 is made for everyone. Since then, DICE has catered to one group or another. Either the hardcore players or the old school players that want "teamwork" because they play with full parties. I could go on and on.

Jack, I remember exactly what I was doing. Along with my mate who's sadly since passed, lamenting the fact that we'd both bought the game and realised we wouldn't have servers in South Africa only for you to come to our aid and mention in our of your "DICE PLEASE" moments that we should be allowed to have servers, if dedicated servers weren't going to be a thing. DICE listened, we got our servers and my mate and I got a good few months running around like nutters with our Martini-Henrys, A-10s and Lewis guns before he passed. Thank you, Jack. I will always appreciate it.

I appreciate DICE/EA for this, but it’s not without its problems. Some people’s games aren’t launching, HDR gets stuck on enabled for some people, ReShade doesn’t work anymore, Linux users can no longer play, and a lot of custom servers are broken, and there’s reports of Xbox consoles being bricked :(

This game is a true masterpiece. I remember when the beta dropped with just that 1 desert map. Me and 2 of my brothers played it for hours everyday, for a week straight and never got bored of it. Every time I go back and play this, it still feels just as good. I know DICE has lost most of these developers that worked on this game, but if current DICE can put this amount of dedication into the next modern battlefield it'd be a dream come true.

I'm not sure if this game worked on Linux through proton, but that kernel level anticheat inclusion probably broke this game on Linux. I really wish anti-cheat stayed out of the kernel on Windows systems given that's how snafu's like Cloudstrike happen.

This update has been DISASTEROUS for PC players! Thousands of people can no longer even launch the game, virtually all of the community servers vanished, and there is no longer mod support. They completely butchered the game and the playerbase. EA is the worst and they just HAD to ruin even their old games...

its actually fucked, PC didnt have a cheating problem because we had community servers that would ban the cheaters, the update did more harm than good. It also allowed us to have custom rulesets, like banning certain OP items (smg08/ilya/mortar trucks in uncap), and now with the update those servers are considered "custom", and will no longer appear in quickplay matchmaking, only now thru the browser, thus crippling that servers playerbase. now every game we get to play with all the bullshit, yay... all so EA can have kernel level access to our PCs in the name of "fairness".

I've only been able to find full servers over the server browser but you have to be ready to deal with queues because the custom community servers are always overcrowded.

The sound design of this game is amazing too. If you shoot a rifle on the mountain side on Monte Grappa it will sound different to the bunkers, if you shoot in an open field on a flat map it won't echo. If you shoot in the town it sounds different again.

Man that was probably one of the best game trailers I had seen in a very long time. I ended up not being able to play it day one, despite having it preordered, because I was deployed. It was the first game I played when I got back to the states. It came out a few days after birthday too. Love the game. One of their best games outside the modern war games like BF3 and BF4. I really hope they go back to their roots.

every now and again, you owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in an operation or 2. Disconnects you from everything and puts you in the thick of it. I'm still amazed to this day how well they managed to represent the feel of world war 1 without making it tedious or boring.

May 6th 2016... I was a senior in High School, last day of school, and the Battlefield 1 reveal trailer was dropped. Most exciting time of my life and the very first game I bought legally as an adult in college.

Incredible game and the weapons were so much fun to use. Multiplayer was always intense and fun. This game inspired me to learn more about WWI.
