I like that you actually explain how your changes help emphasize the artist’s work, and you don’t just say that the “anatomy is off” or the shading is “funky.” You go into depth of how the artist could emphasize their art better, and that really helps.

12:50 I really liked all of the improvements you made on the drawings before, but I don’t really like how you completely changed the character for this one. before she looked like a villain; she had a maniacal expression on her face, she looked unhappy, she looked evil; but now, she just looks like a magical girl? the improvements were fine, I just think you should’ve kept the original drawing and premise. I could be totally misinterpreting the character, but oh well

@annnovember
@annnovember 6 ай бұрын
I think it’s amazing that you explain very clearly what you’re changing and why and it’s really helpful. Though it sometimes feels like you’re not emphasizing the feeling of a face and character and sacrifice it to the anatomy instead of bringing the personality of a face back onto a new, anatomically correct shape. Ofc you don’t have to do it all the way because you’re just sketching over, but I felt sad you’ve forgotten about the character. For example: 1. Prominent chin and umm… bumpy? nose, I’d return it to the face. Sweater looks like it’s not a classical shape but something more interesting of a neckline but the author probably could not emphasize it enough for it to be understood. I’d make eyebrows a bit thicker to keep the feeling “they’re so dark and thick they are visible through the bangs” but ofc keep them under the bangs :) 2. I see the author tried to make this girl more of a shy, hunched girl and adding sass instead of more shyness seems bit off. Etc etc. But your skill is amazing 💐💥

@@ryuj31n that's a pretty bad justification. Regular people who are just watching this will not take it as a joke but rather as a real criticism. She didn't say shes changing this because the anatomy is bad, she explicitly stated it was about respecting women twice and they didn't sound like jokes. Unless she stated elsewhere that she's joking or she draws women like this, it's safe to assume she's serious.
@78cottoncandy
@78cottoncandy 8 ай бұрын
Imo it’s not fair to assume how she feels based off one lighthearted comment. She never said that’s “inherently disrespectful”. To me it’s more likely she’s referring to how it’s a voyeuristic panty shot. The character isn’t intentionally exposing herself to the viewer so it can feel disrespectful to show that. There’s lots of discussion about how shows do fan service like this. It’s much rarer that you’d see a male character in a pose like this, confidently showing off his powers, yet with his butt hanging out. Another character she critiqued was wearing lingerie but did she cover her up? No, because there’s nuance to this.
