When I hear GI Joe I think of the 70's large articulated action figures that I had with the crewcut fuzzy hair and beards and the pull string voice recorded messages. Now those were GI Joes. ;-)

Mine didn’t have the fuzzy hair, just molded plastic but yeah when he said old GI Joes I immediately thought of the larger ones. The go to accessory was the Navy deep diver setup. I still have some somewhere in the footlocker but all well played with and disorganized and many pieces missing through the years.

Great score!! I got lucky on my last storage unit and found some 60’s Barbies and GI Joes (12”).. plus a zip lock bag of accessories. I can’t make up my mind if I want to put them on eBay, marketplace or just hold them for now. And you’re 100% correct on the “accessories” bringing more than the figures in some cases. After I started looking up what I had, I was blown away at the prices they were bringing. Goodness gracious!! Stay blessed!!

We found a huge box full of original 90s polly pockets at a garage sale about 3 years ago and bought for nz $20 and just got around to selling the sets this year...$800 profit which has helped pay for my kids xmas presents this year. Not sure we will find a bargain like that again

Back in the early 2000s, we had a garage sale. My son wanted to sell his Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He had everything from the beginning until he felt he was too old. Like the year before. He priced everything for pennies on dollar. They were his to sell, and a neighborhood person who regularly had garage sales said he was making a mistake by selling everything so cheap. She bought everything and I'm sure made a huge profit the next time she had a sale. The thing was, my son was happy and wasn't in it to maximize profits. He just wanted more room. He'd actually planned to donate to the VA before we had the garage sale.

I had a USS flag! I shared it with my brother and we kept it on top of a low book shelf behind our bunk bed. Eventually it broke ( we were quite rough with our toys) and our dad put the remaining pieces together and attached them to the shelf so the shelf made the flight deck with the conning tower, bow, and gun turrets attached to the book shelf so we got a few years more out of it. But we grew out of it and gave all our GI Joe's to my best friend's little brother. Really wish I had those back, though our toys were really rough when we were through with them.

This is making me nostalgic for my Robotech toys. I sold them via my sister's eBay "with battle damage" and I still miss them. But I was broke and in a bad situation, had to do it. Also the fine line between dolls and action figures made me laugh. I've been having that argument for years... it really is just a marketing tool. My default is "little plastic people".

my GI joe was one of the originals from the 1960's, but he did not survive, as he was played with hard and war is Hell, m80 and Cherry bomy took there toll on him, as well as the napalm. I got my GI Joe Christmas 1964, I was 1 year old, and he was one of my toy's for years and I got older, the play got harder and more violent especially with the fireworks. The Steno we called Napalm.
