As always, this is another great review. IMO one of the reasons for the difference you are hearing is this song is from their first album - which they wrote themselves. A lot of the hits from their later albums were penned by Babyface

My second favorite BIIM song after 50 Candles. I love that it's primarily led by Shawn, who is my fave! This is from their debut, which they wrote most of themselves. After they blew up with End of the Road they wrote a lot less. That's why this sounds different
