Yes, I have noticed about his playing through out all the videos I have watched. The old chicken and the egg thing - is his mellow playing derived from his character or his style? I would have to say it's him.

I've been on KZbin long enough to watch several channels grow from thousands of subscribers to hundreds of thousands. Most have been, in my humble opinion, deserving of said recognition. This channel, again imo, is the most deserving of a huge following. I love watching Your videos for both the educational aspect and the entertainment aspect. The intro songs always have the most beautiful music. I would watch the videos for the music alone so the instructional aspect is a giant bonus. Jack is a phenomenal teacher. I've learned so much from the videos and I've learned the concepts very quickly. This channel is going to have subscribers in millions eventually and I'll be very proud to say I was one of the first few hundred to join.

Jack, woke up this morning having a cup of coffee and listening to your lesson. I have always loved this sound. Probably takes me back to my first time listening to George Benson! There is so much music within the major scale. I had a music lesson from this saxophonist. I wanted to “play outside,” but he would not let me escape the tonality of Ionian & Mixolydian (relative) modes.

Killer- the way you explain this has cleared them bats outta my belfry- “fitting” notes/arpeggios over solid chord progressions was fuzzy math. Now you’ve turned the light on in the dusky old space. I hope I can build on this and make it stick! Thanks.

I agree with all the positive comments Jack I always learn something from videos thank you. Here's my minor complaint: one day one of the KZbinrs is going to figure out how to make the volume of the voice the same volume as the guitar. It's not just your videos, it's almost all of the guitar teaching videos. Many times I can barely hear the voice and I'll turn it up way up and I forget to turn it way down and here comes the music and last time I mentioned this to one of the teachers on KZbin a lot of people made negative comments about what I was saying. Maybe I'm deaf, but I don't think so, thanks again for all the informative info, have a great day Jack

The intervals in a chord (1-3-5-7 etc) are measured from the root of the chord not from the first note of the scale. Not to nit pick but someone just getting into theory might get a little confused. That being said I love your stuff Jack. You have a gift for coming up with really melodic lines.
@EDPGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Interesting point. Root is not the first note of the Scale? I see! It relates to the Chord, and as the Chord has 2, 3 or 4 notes. Can one then say it is The Root note and the other notes are the subsequent 3 5 7 9 11 13 ?

Sounds lovely, like so much of that smooth loungy stuff we had in the 1980s, I feel like I should be wearing a white suit and sipping a cocktail in a tropical themed bar. I’m trying to make it easier to remember and to me the Cmaj arpeggio looks like a subset of the Am Dorian scale which is which is why worked so well over that progression of G major 4 2 5 1 ……. I think 😂. Love your playing and lessons.

I just practiced this for an hour or more. I took your chord progression cmaj 7, A minor, D 7, and G. Looped that. Then played the Cmaj 7 arpeggio over the jam. sometimes I slide to the D. It felt right even though it wasn’t said apart of the arpeggio. Idk? But I feel like a smooth jazz player now. Witch I want to be. I’m 40 an old guy doing this. I really appreciate the lesson. Thanks 🙏 I live in Nashville. Wonder if I could set up a personal lesson?
