Was lucky to get rain right before my trip and do the prongs section around 4ft, lots of great wave trains and quick water. The last two days were more relaxed and less miles.

I got all confused around the 2:00 mark with the surfing...I thought you were going in circles and was hard to wrap my brain around....then I got it....🤣

Awesome trip. 19 minutes in is exactly the type of trip I am planning for next early fall. Doing the Current River in two weeks. Paddle to camp and spend a day near each camp just exploring. Thanks for sharing. Who knows, maybe we'll paddle a stretch together.

Sounds like a great trip! I have started to go slower and slower on the river. Even just camping on a gravel bar and staying put for a couple days. What do you paddle? I will keep an eye out for ya!

The bluff you were unsure of was the middle Loder hole bluff. Sounds like loader. Magnificent! Preceded by the upper Loder hole bluff. Resembles a muffin top. And as one would expect the lower Loder hole immediately after. mike

Thanks for taking us on your trip with you, Justin! No matter what they are “officially” called, I think you have given the bluffs a great name: Forever Bluffs!

I just found your channel and I know you're on an Old Town, but I'm wondering which one, it looks pretty similar to what I have (Discovery 169). I've been searching for someone doing river trips that's using a canoe like mine, shallow arch, moderate rocker. Love how you are in complete control of it.

It’s a camper! It’s got a pretty flat bottom and the slightest bit of rocker. It’s basically a rec canoe that can do everything but doesn’t excel at anything. It’s my first boat and I love her!

I’m still yearning to float prongs to alley. My husband and I floated Buck Hollow to Alley in April, many moons ago. We camped along the “forever bluffs” I think. You could totally sense the history of this majestic part of Missouri. We own 10 acres on the South prong near hwy 137. Unfortunately it’s too dangerous and narrow if the water is high enough to float. Thank you for taking us on your trip! Great video. Speak up with confidence and share your passion! And be careful on those cliffs 😮

So fun! I still can’t believe that one doesn’t have a name lol. I might get lucky enough to do buck hollow down later this week but I will miss the rain by a day I need to run the prongs I’m pretty sure. My partner and I are trying to plan a trip out there this spring when the water is up hopefully.

This was beautiful. I tear up a little watching this. Your ability to handle yourself on the water and going solo is the kind of thing that people will subscribe to for sure. If you spoke up a little louder and told us a little more about the adventure, I think you could not only have hundreds of thousands of subs, but you could also become the definitive source for information about the area.

thanks for your kind words! I also realized I need to up my audio game on this trip but great feedback. I am always torn between talking to much because I feel like I dont have anything interesting to say thanks for your encourgment! I have some trips in the editing phase right now and a few more planned soon so more to come!

@@paddlingjourney1450 awesome. Looking forward to it. Just tell us what you know, whether it's fishing or reading the river or finding shelter or how far various features or places are. It's all interesting. It is hard to find the right balance between talking too much and not saying enough, but you'll get it.

What a cool trip. Thanks for taking us along. I’d be scared with those faster rapids but otherwise it was very calming. It looks like you went right after a big rain. good footage. Thanks!

The rapids used to scare me now it’s what I seek out lol. Yeah there was a big storm a day or two before and the river had just peaked and was going down again the lower half of the river was still “closed” when I got on caught it at the perfect level! Thanks for watching!

So did you have a dry suit on the first day?
@paddlingjourney1450
@paddlingjourney1450 Жыл бұрын
Nope no dry suit. I have ran my boat through class 3 and never dumped she is super stable. I bring 3 full sets of warm clothes in case something happens. I own a dry suit now doing the trip again I would wear it just so I could surf and play more without fear of dumping. I don’t think it was super cold that first day either I probably would have been dying in a dry suit in the sun.

GoPro image stabilization is pretty great : ) all the mounted canoe footage was shot with GoPro. some editing programs have an option to but the results are not as good. Most of my hand held shots were on my Iphone and it stabilizes decent enough as well.
