Great description of the rules and game play. It's great to see how realistic the VP version is, cause on a real table the center targets ARE death. If possible I try to clip the drops from the sides, but rarely possible.

This is the table I've played the most on my ALP. Simple rules, reasonably challenging gameplay, and nostalgic. I'm pretty sure I used to see this all those years ago, just about the time I was old enough to drive myself to the arcade. Your insights and suggested techniques are almost exactly the same as what I've learned on this table. The hardest habit to break is trying to catch the ball! It's just too dangerous on this table. Have you noticed that you can't really do a skill shot when using the plunger? It always seems to send the ball through the Spade or Club lane. For once, my high game is about what you scored in your play through. You're usually yards ahead, but this is a tricky table! Thanks for the video!

Excellent, I’ll have to try this table again, now that I know the rules.

Yeah man, learning that extra 1,000 pts per drop-down target was a game-changer for me.

Replying late but wanted to elaborate on the scoring and genius of this table. You're right in that ideally you want three rollovers completed before going for the drops. However, after the initial plunge with one rollover done, complete the jacks and (ideally) only the jacks. That will light the inlanes and more importantly the center bumper for 1000. Then keep sending ball up top to get three rollovers complete, then start taking down the drops. Ideally, you want to complete each target hand last so you maximize the scoring of more drops at 4000 - so if you're on three queens, hit one of the queens last. On the other hand, hitting them early you'll still likely knock a few others and then the queens will reset all so more targets. It's half of one six dozen of another and you can just weight whether you can take down the whole bank or just keep dropping the five drops once you reach the royal flush, since only five will reset after that. The dead slings and open elbow inlanes make the game since you'll have to take most shots on the fly and the dead slings make ball travel more predictable. I prefer these styles of EM's over modern games because i dislike the stop and go pace of modern pins. Catch ball, make shot, get in loop of ramp shots feeding the other flipper. The old games have that "just one more game" feeling but not the DMD ones since one game will last 15 to 45 minutes. Of course, some of the early solid state ganes are great, but I prefer Gottlieb EM's. Just me rambling.

I'm playing the tables in alphabetical order and just got to Strike tonight. It's a lot like Jacks Open in many ways. Might make a good compare/contrast topic for another video.
