I saw that movie about the cave divers who rescued the kids soccer team. Other than for that one specific reason of rescuing people stupid enough to get trapped in caves that fill with water I see no reason for this madness. I have massive respect for the people who do this but I will never be among their ranks. This is insane.

I just don’t understand the purpose of going down there. Theres no amazing scenery no buried treasures just a water filled hole.

Semper Fi! I completely understand the sentiment. No treasure. I do think the caves are quite beautiful though. Just diving is fun. Being “weightless” in the water and “flying” on the DPVs is a blast. This could be done in the ocean also though. Some people just love the caves. I guess I am one of them. I have to say, I am 100% in the moment when cave diving. No worries or stress from work etc. A day out in nature with friends doing a dive is more relaxing than a day spent by the pool or at the beach for me. Heck, just watching the videos I make is relaxing to me. I am lucky that I live an hour away from the caves in Florida. Of the 4 other people I dove with or shared boats with this weekend 2 were from South Carolina, one from Texas, and one from California. In fact, people come from all over the world to dive caves in Florida. Admittedly, cave divers are a pretty small group though. Best wishes and if you have served (Anyone who does not know who Chesty Puller is in the U.S. should google him) thank you very much for that service!

I can also understand the thought. I've done a lot of diving, and my favorite dive is still a cenote dive I did in Mexico. Descending into the abyss, then navigating through (much larger than this, like 4x minimum) areas underground to get to another cenote was... amazing. The water is SO crisp and clear. I would do more of those dives in a heartbeat.

Enjoyed this video “group” JB is what I’d call my “home cave”. I love watching video there especially the first couple thousand feet since I know it so well. We were talking last weekend about how far back we could be and navigate out blindfolded without touch contact on the line. So did ya’ll actually do the Queen’s jump? That, King’s, Avalanche Alley, and Crinoid are my favorite parts of JB.

This is my home cave these days as well (I lived about one hour north for the past 16 years but moved to my current home from Gainesville Florida). I did not shoot video of Queens but yes we went from mainline to proximal Queens completing the small Queen’s circuit then back to proximal King’s on mainline and then did King’s. King’s is frankly just much more striking visually. Within the last month my GoPro 7 was upgraded to GoPro 9 (the 7 kept locking up so I got replacement for free) so I now have 2 good cameras with my GoPro 10 as the second. Each camera gets at most 1 hour of video (at most before battery goes caput) I will now be a little less selective about video I decide to shoot. In fact, now the limiting factor may be whatever video light (batteries of video light) I am using as my lights will likely be limiting factor unless I am just using my cave light as the light source

@@cavediver74 I’ve been using a 1st gen Paralenz for a while. Used to shoot stills with two different camera rigs in the ocean, but haven’t done anything but video since I started cave diving a few years ago. I was at JB last weekend and back again next, I’m a 6 hour drive

@@cavediver74 BTW you lose me with the proximal queens, from the bottom, left at first tee, around the corner, we clip scoots and swim it. Left at the tee, back out, short jump just before upper end of king’s jump.

@@cavediver2579 apologies. Proximal is basically a medical term meaning closest to the source or center (torso really). In this case, exit. Distal is the opposite of proximal. The tip of your finger would be distal. Base of your finger would be proximal. So, in terms of circuits I often think of things in terms of proximal and distal. (Proximal closer to cavern, distal further from cavern). My usual buddies either share my jargon or have become accustomed to it. Again, apologies.

@@cavediver74 no apologies necessary, I was raised with an OB/GYN as a father… knew it was medical speak but couldn’t relate it to the cave. Have you done the entrance to king’s from the left turn sort of after the second tee? Not the snap a gap
