For sports like skiing or football its usually 9 months of rehab before you can start training properly. By 'training properly' I mean putting yourself in a situation where you are pivoting on the leg, reacting to unexpected situations. If you're a hardcore athlete, willing to put in the graft, with the best physios at your disposal it can come down to 6 months but you won't be 'match fit' yet. In cycling you don't tend to pivot on the leg unless you need to do an emergency dismount so 'safe' cycling can be done as part of your rehab. (I'm not a doctor or physio but I have had both mine repaired, hamstring graft)

This excites me in 3 different ways. Devoted mountain biking orthopaedic physio here with a newfound passion for golf. Get that knee straight, strengthen that hamstring, and sink those putts, brother. Looking forward to seeing soon, Spiderman. I mean, Jackson.....

I tore my ACL in February. Jackson and I both have very similar dates when we got surgery. My surgeon is urging me to wait 12 months to let my graft fully heal regardless. If I do wait that long it would put me at 15 months off the MTB. Curious how long before he is back on the bike compared to me.

Really sorry to hear this has happened. Dude honest advise from someone who has been there and got the t-shirt.....find another sport. It will never be completely 'fixed'....I drifted away from riding and found rock climbing. It's a better buzz :) bikes are so limited and this won't be the only injury...they add up. Once you hit 40 with a smashed up body that aches it's likely you will think differently about bikes.

Nah bad advice. When your wired into something your passionate about you will never get over that sport. Pierron had a bad back injury but came back and won Val de sol and he’s had more injury’s . Nobody cares about the amount of injury’s you add up . We only care about the time we have to experience these memories at our most elite capabilities.
