As a Tigers lifer, it makes me sick to think about trading Skubal. All we’ve heard from the front office (then Avila, now Harris) is that Chris Illitch is willing to spend. But they never do. The Tigers have developed a great pitching staff from within and they’re being wasted with Tier 2 and 3 signings positionally. If you trade Skubal you’re telling your players that they have no intention of winning anytime soon. This has already been an 8 year rebuild. Infuriating.

I am a Tigers lifer too but you have to stop living in the past! This is NOT Al Avila’s ORGANIZATION! Scott Harris is building it from the ground up! He’s buying HS prep kids & will give them time to develop. Unlike Avila, Harris has a plan, his organization is implementing that plan. It’s not Scott Harris problem that Avila was incompetent & missed on 2 top 1.1 picks! If Harris can get 2 of the O’s top position players at premium positions, he makes that trade. Skubal today is not the Skubal in 3 yrs. His 2 major arm surgeries are a huge risk so Harris understands this & that’s why he MUST strike now at top value & can’t be emotional about!

The GM is the General! If your General is too afraid to lose men, you lose the battle & lose the war! The O’s should give prospects for proven MLB players & a guy like Skubal, who is not a rental & can be a bull dog in the playoffs, that’s how a team win a World Series! That’s the goal! No awards for having the best prospects & there’s zero guarantee any if these top prospects become stars at the next level. Dave Dombrowski is a HOF GM because he empty’s the chamber & goes all in! Baltimore doesn't need Holliday. They have Henderson at short, Jordan Westburg 3rd or 2nd, then Colby Mayo could fit in at 3rd if your fine with your 1st base options, and if not you have Mayo can go to 1st and Connor Norby could fill 2nd with Westburg at 3rd. Baltimore have all the pieces to fill their infield without Holliday.

@@howardsun I never said or suggested that Detroit wanted or necessarily needed Holliday, only that Baltimore doesn't necessarily need him as they have other really good options to fill their infield spots. But I could say this, Holliday is probably a much better option at short over Jung, as Jung's fielding grades by 2 different sources are 45 and 40, so both below average, thus Jung might be better suited as a 2nd or 3rd baseman, compared to Holliday's 60 and 55 grades defensively, and even arm wise Holliday grades better.

They somehow manage to get Holliday, baez should be gone. I say should cause I don't know if illitch would be willing to eat the remaining contract of baez. Personally, he screws you whether he's on this roster or isn't lol. Long overdue to cut him.

I actually think the Tigers could do something next year. Yes they've botched up their system a little bit but they still have a few gems. I love Malloy as a DH he seems to fit that mold perfectly and he's starting to heat up and his bat will play at this level and will play big. Colt Keith looks legit as well he's turned it around from his slow start and he's raking. For me though Jace Jung is going to be the big bat in Detroit. He's a high OPS number three hitter who walks a lot and has good power. I gotta think he's up soon. If I were Detroit I'd keep Skubal he's got two years left if it doesn't work out next season then trade him he'll still have great value with another year of control left.

If Skubal goes to Baltimore not only will the price tag be painful, Maeda or Baez will need to go along. Flaherty and Chafin are likely to move before Skubal. Any Skubal deal will include a dozen players/picks. No way Baltimore makes that deal.

No way! As an Orioles fan... 1. One pitcher is not going to fix loosing 4 pitchers since Bautista went down 2. Would not want to lose high draft picks we suffered thru the losing for like Holliday, Kjerstad or even Mayo 3. New owners who should spend this off season. Spend on pitchers and keep these prospects which will become the most talented lineup in Baseball next year when you add Mayo at 3rd, Basallo at 1st and Holliday at 2nd.

Yeah, if you guys keep your prospects, you can just pay free agent pitchers and they'll likely be gone by the time you need to pay your prospects that you just kept (apart from Adley, and Gunnar). Your payroll is low enough to do this strategy. Or you can make a trade next year after you already have evidence of another positional player producing for you. That gives security in that there is less risk in trading away your ungraduated prospects now that you have enough home grown impact positional players.

Not going to happen. The O's aren't trading away almost ready prospects. Elias wants a youth movement in the team to build a core around. Like the Astros did during his tenure. He should wait until after the season and look for arms in triple A or any free agents. They were asking too much for Cease and the other starters last year at the trade deadline.

The Orioles have the deepest bank of prospects and major league talent to negotiate with as the deadline nears. Dan O'Dowd gets it. The Tigers could really jumpstart the rebuild by trading Skubal for a couple of stud infielders. If I'm the Tigers, I would settle for Colby Mayo and Norby because there are no good Rh bats in the farm system currently. Now all of a sudden, the top of your 2025 lineup looks like this... #1 - Connor Norby #2 - Riley Greene #3 - Colby Mayo #4 - Kerry "Bonds" Carpenter #5- Colt Keith PS - If the Tigers trade Skubal, they can bring up Jobe who looks like their Ace of the future.

Except that’s not a good package. The Tigers have made it abundantly clear that if they are going to trade Skubal, they are going to want a top five prospect in the entire game with a HOF projection to go the other way as well. Right now JH is the only guy who fits that mold.

I think they MIGHT be able to get Basello but in all reality Elias has always been conservative with his prospects. The Os could leave those 3 out and still put together a better deal with 5 or 6 prospects that no other team could match.

As an Os fan I would potentially do JH straight up for Skubal. And Basallo straight up for Crochet. Nothing more. Mayo off limits... they really need his RH bat. Best case scenario we can just put together packages with some of these players: Stowers, Norby, Mountcastle, Hays, Urias, Beavers, Fabian, Horvath, Tavera, Etzel, etc... although that means you're probably not getting one of those top 2 pitchers. Throw in a bullpen arm like Kopech and I'd do a Basallo, Beavers, and one more top 15
