Forgot to review: The "does more always equal better?" battle. Dega came with numbers (17 cymbals???) and volume. Jackson State came with their usual. Jackson State Snares- 9.5 I heard moments of dirt but overall clean and precise like I expected Tenors-10 I don't usually give 10s however the Tenors were very good with their spacing and placement in fillers. They provided the clean counterpoint that sets WT apart from other sections Basses- 9.5 I wanted to give them a 10 but there was small attention to detail that I usually miss with them. Like how they move in ripples seems to be less pronounced than while they're playing. Almost like they take off in their minds until the next cadence. Also, movements during cadences are together but every now and then I see some more and less pronounced than others. Quads- 10. They were more unsung heroes in this one, but they fit in just fine. Cymbs- 9 Got to take off for those inverted cymbals every now and then. Good overall. Balance- 10. (WELL balanced material!) Difficulty of material-10 (You can say all they do is play grooves until you try to play their material as a line. Can I play it? Yes. I'm a professional. Would I struggle as a freshman? YES!!! Could I just pick everything up the first time listening? NO! Would I stumble the first few times trying to learn it? Yes.) Overall score- 68/70. No other way to put it. These boys are good. Talladega- I'll be honest. I'm already biased towards WT but I will not take into account the WT influence debate when evaluating. I'll evaluate this performance alone. Snares- 9. They were clean. They were together. Very good. Excellent even. But a but monotonous. Basses- 9 Very good. Powerful. Held the pocket very well. I can't give a 9.5 in this battle because their material was not as intricately written as WT's so I have to keep them a notch under. I'd feel justified giving them an 8.5 for this reason but I don't want to take away from the reality that they're a very good section. Tenors-8.5. I was going to give them an 8 but I'm focusing on specifically dega now during this part and I will give them points for their energy. Quads- N/A (Won't hurt overall score) Cymbals- 8. Waaay too much, but that didn't hurt the score. Played pretty well but there were parts that were supposed to be intricate and were less properly executed. Balance- 8. On the fence between 8 and 8.5 but this is where the small details matter. Nobody was overpowered really but the important parts weren't highlighted when necessary. This is "next level" awareness. Difficulty of material-8 Same thing. If i were evaluating them against another line I'd have given them more but the difficulty falls short compared to WT. I just have to be honest. Overall score- 50.5/60 Final result- WT 68/70 (97%) Dega 50.5/60 (84%) I feel good about this rating because 84% is nothing to sneeze at and Dega is nothing to sneeze at either. There's trash talk of course but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Their guys can play. By no means are they bad. They're very good. However, I also believe that when you get to the top it's the small details that matter. Both lines did well in the basics that make a good drumline. Now it's all about the small things. These are where WT shined and where TC came up a little short. Great battle to both lines!

I really see no difference in the sections besides size, so you have to go with execution. If you don't have one of your sticks (08:13), you can't execute 🤷🏾♂️ I would also say WTs Zs have better arrangements and flashes as well. Boom for the win....again

Me being in the band and coming from a Jackson High School 04’ to be exact, can honestly say all this so called grooving ish they playing these days is all watered down and it seams to me as if everything all sounds the same!
