“Lil Darrell “ as I called him was my nephew( in- law ) . Really great guy . I didn’t even know he was a drum major till he came out with the Alumni band . That’s when I told him , “son i knew you looked familiar “. He just laughed . Didn’t even tell me he was a legend with his own named move . Rest on Lil Darrell

I was a senior in high school and my band attended the Circle City Classic. This was the first time I ever saw a HBCU marching band. I attended UAPB the next year. Playing beside JSU in Jacksonville in 1990. Memories

I don't know if it's just the video, but it sounds like the band is playing with a lot more tone quality than what I hear from HBCU bands now, where especially the low brass just blasts as loud as they can.
