And he goes deeper into the creative process than most interviewers do too. I remember during his most recent Panic! At The Disco interview he even knew some of the producers and songwriters Brendon often collaborates with, something I didn't know much about even as a longtime fan of the band's music.

However, *some* groups don't have creative freedom and their image and sound is carefully created to the tiniest detail by a team to optimize sales. I personally do not care if idols themselves made their own music. If it sounds good, I'll love it. Take BLACKPINK for example. From their interviews, including the one on Zach Sang's show, it's very obvious that they don't get to create or add much to their music. Groups like BTS have the permission to create their own music, but the stereotype comes from restricted groups.

I love how Jackson "defined" what an "idol" is. He didn't look at it in the way most people do which is the manufactured training system and the company controlled environment, but he defined an idol by what they do, not how they got there. He defined idols by the culture and the work they do, for example, fansigns, hi-touch, variety shows, and so on. The way that k-pop artists communicate with their fans is different than how American artists do. The whole culture of k-pop and the things k-pop idols do is so different than American artists. Not to say that it's better or worse, but you can't compare a k-pop idol's work the same as you would an American artist by saying they're "manufacture" because the way they carry themselves is culturally different.

I almost cried with happiness when Jackson said that his solo work is an extension of Got7, not seperate. It just made me feel like Jackson loves being part of Got7 so much, you know, and he's accomplished so much in China as well with his solo songs. I love how Jackson sees a sucess. In a way of: "okay, it's not about the numbers. It's not about the likes and how much people talk about what I did. It's about how much I worked on it, how I put MY heart into it". I feel like it's such a healthy way of thinking. Because in that way, you're protecting yourself from regret and you have healthier way of perceiving things. It's also a confirmation of his greatness. There are so many things I love about this interview: the fact that Jackson has such clear goals. the fact that Jackson stays humble no matter what. the fact Jackson engages Zach with questions back and Zach seemed to like it. The fact that Jackson's eyes got moist when he mentioned his parents stability and happiness. The fact that he mentioned respecting the fans knowing darn well they don't always respect him (ggrrrr just sayin) the fact that he's dropping a globally accessible album end of the month. the fact that he didn't shy away from BTS or talks about RM. the fact that he expressed himself as within got7 just showing himself a little brighter and in his own way...the hardest part of watching this was him admitting basically that he's only human and has a limited time in this world. I sincerely believe as Jinyoung said that Jackson can 'make the history' I hope as an older fan to see all his goals come true. NOW...how can we get him on the BBMAs?

I really love Jackson’s personality. Like, he always learned of his mistakes and don’t make them as some waist of time. He’s just here enjoying what is doing and making art. What I love about this interview, and frankly Zach Sang as an interviewer, is that it's very clear that Jackson is expecting certain questions - ones that are semi-demeaning, focused on separating him from Got7, and intrusive regarding his love life, but Zach never asks them. Instead he focuses on questions that allow Jackson to really talk about his work, his thought process, and naturally share instead of feeling pressured to tell us everything. Props to Zach for consistently making artists feel welcome and relaxed on his show.

Zach Sang asks questions that show that he really does his research. He's really trying to understand what makes the artists tick, what their creative process is - which is not too different from Zach's process: I like how Jackson says he won't force it when writing music, just lets it run its course. Just like Zach, who doesn't force things out of interviewees, he just lets them open up.

There is a reason you invite a artist to your show, u wanted to get know them, how they creative proces are, what makes them the person that they are right now and etc. So yes a reporter should their research and let the person that you interview speak out.
