I believe it, my uncle told me of his time playing college football and the NFL from the 70s-80s. He played DE for the Bills, he would tell me stories of being so beat up that his hands were too swollen to put quarters in the phone to call home, a teammate (OT) getting jealous that he beat him in a drill in practice, and jumping on his ankle to break it after he was going to start, he said "Nephew, I used to hate to see the morning, it meant it was just another butt whooping in practice". He played college at a small school in Knoxville, but made the NFL on hard work alone.

He said “it was too hard” and that’s something I’ll never forget. To him the constant grind of staying at the highest level and wondering if you’re still are or are currently good enough to compete at that high level or to go through the grueling schedule is a sumbich. I looked him up, he's probably better off than most fringe roster guys from his class.

Mike tyson once said, "Everybody got a plan until they get punched in the mouth." NFL hits harder mentally than physical. 😊

It’s a weird thing to see but some guys are really good athletes and good at the sport but don’t have love for it beyond High-school and College. It’s like being an Amazing Mechanic but you are not a Car guy 😅

The owner of my first job was a guy named Tim Biakabutuka he played running back for the Panthers and apparently he was a beast. However after multiple injuries he just retired and started franchising a restaurant called BoJangles he was such a tough dude to work for.😂😂

When you absolutely have the talent to make the team and it’s a guarantee but you still quit is when you just don’t have any heart for it. Yeah it’s a lot of money but get yourself and somebody else hurt like that.

People often say " Do what you love for a living and you'll never work a day in your life ". Wrong. When the thing you love becomes a job, it takes the joy out of doing it.
