unreal. i mean there are many other bass legens but none jam like Jaco in my opinion. He keeps it tight and interesting all the time.

I've been a young bass player for three months when i bought this album by accident. No one had ever told me about Jaco. I just felt the CD cover was cool with a bass player on it. When i heard the first notes, I knew instantly it was something precious

I WAS THERE ! Al teatro '' Tenda a Striscia'' ROMA , (EUR) . I Was only 21 , che spettacolo!

How can people say that his abilities as a musician faded toward his later years??? Jaco only got better and better. Thing is, his illness got worse. However, it's things like this that make me think those two factors worked oppositely. RIP Jaco
@Woohaaaaaa Жыл бұрын
I would say his technical abilities was, surprisingly not, fading that much. Surprising considering his recurring mental breakdowns during the 80s. Maybe though his ability to come up with new interesting ideas and techniques faded a bit. It was much repricing old standard tunes and licks by then, at least in live conserts. On his last curtain call however, the instructional video, he is sharp, alert, playing great and coming up with some fresh stuff i think which is amazing considering his life situation at that time.

Even though he was sick at this period. He was still Jaco and had periods of sheer brilliance. At this time the associates in his musical world couldn't handle his unpredictabile/unreliable personality off the band stand.. Read Joni Mitchell's log about him several years prior (when substance abuse started). Missing important recording sessions with her (they were tight intimate friends) because he was loaded and playing frisbee with Joe Zawinal was his preference. His passing was horrific for those who love the man. His family avid, fans and those who who later idolize him as one of the most influential fathers of modern bass playing.

Love the performance overall. Jaco is truly amazing. My only nit-pick is that I wish the drummer would have improvd his playing more along with Jaco and the guitarist. Sounds like he's trying too hard to sound like the original, studio recording. Was probably a little star struck playing with Jaco.
