I still don't understand why Jacob Mann's subscriber count is this low. This music is dynamite and more people need to know about it! Again, amazing job on this latest volume!
@MrDaiohAzu2 жыл бұрын
i eventually searched "jacob mann" on youtube after hearing his incredible funk on keyboard in various louis cole video's, but yeah if i had not make this research i would have never discovered this. A shame he's not more pushed by the algorithm. What a cool musician. I wish i could funk like that on keyboard

We need to share it more then don't we! I think a big part is that it's instrumental and the big band format, which is seen as old-fashioned

Jazz has generally only accounted for 7% of all music sales. It’s too sophisticated for many. It’s nice to be part of the 7% whom appreciate this music.
@NotFine7 ай бұрын
@@davidarbelaez4395I think it's 7% of sales because the general reputation of jazz is that it's old people music lol

I like to think that was a drum solo vamp section, and he was only not given a title card for it because he needs no introduction.

You should check out "Breaking News Shuffle" from this album. Louis is something special, for sure. Here's to hoping that Jacob can get video for that one uploaded soon, too!

Maybe because it's a masterpiece? So many things are going on with the rhythm, the music and each player's personality that every listening brings something new.

High E stabs from the trumpets, they make it sound easy!
Nobody's mentioned how good the sound is. The horns are kind of far from the mics which gives them a more natural reverb. But the mix is still really well blended.

Mann. So killing. Love the syncopation and interlocking horn parts which are so Jacob. The only thing that perplexes me a bit is the drum mix, esp the kick. Sounds fine in context but through headphones sounds a bit like a basketball during the drum solo.

Somebody take a minute and tell me what are those devices to the side of each musician. A personal mixer for their headphone feed or something?
@kyle-silver Жыл бұрын
The music stands? All they’re hearing through their headphones is probably the click track
@AboveAverageDaveSproul Жыл бұрын
@@kyle-silver- No, there’s a reasonably complex rectangular electronic device there in a few places. Look right under drummer Louis Cole’s left elbow. Interesting that some wear headphones and others not. I’m still having to guess. If I were one of the musicians I’d love to have the ability to give my headphones a custom mix with my own instrument elevated above a mix of everything else. If they were hearing only the click track they’d be totally lost with sealing headphones on.
