The issue I’ve got with this storyline is that I dont think David, Jacob AND Victoria are entirely wine and roses. I’ve not watched Emmerdale prior to 2023 but I did pick up on how David treated Victoria in this current episode so that contributes to why they’re not together. That being said, and this is geared towards Jacob, if you knew your dad was into the girl you’re dating still, I would have treaded a lot more carefully or even talked to David about it first. Hypothetically, there’s no wrongdoing here but it’s kind of almost breaking some kind of code by having you two get together when your dad previously dated her AND still has feelings for her. Victoria, you knew the hot water this would get Jacob into, and again, you aren’t doing anything wrong but you did start a chain reaction here.

The problem with this storyline is that David assumed he had a chance with Victoria, after messing her about before, so what gave him that idea, just because she was being friendly towards him. I don't see where he's the hurt party in all of this when he assumed wrongly ! Basically it was all in his head. He deserved the smack in the eye his son gave him for the god awful things he said to Victoria, doesn't matter that it was his son that gave him the shiner !!!
