Meet Justin Borucki, a photographer who specializes in taking portraits using a 150-year-old process called: Wet Plate Collodion. Not only is he creating these one-of-a-kind portraits, but he is doing so on the streets of New York City from the back of his van.

Amazing! I knew that just a few people did tintype anymore -- but for someone to do it on the street -- and let you see the whole process, wow -- that's fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

Very very cool! So this is how the "travelling photographer" would have taken the tin type of Billy the Kid back in the 1880s? But with an older camera and lense. Do you know anything more about those "old time" photographers? There is ALWAYS alcohol involved in the old west ahahaha Thanks for this...love old photography/photos. Just subbed! ❤🤠

@Normanskie

Wouldn't be cheap as I priced up the silver and he would only get about ten 5x7 inch sheets for UK £99, ($136 ) then you have the tin plate, collodion, other gear, large format 8x10 cameras are not cheap, even the old second hand ones (I purchased an English 4x5 inch large format camera [Micro Precision Products Ltd (M.P.P.]) the bellows had more holes in it than Swiss cheese and paid £120 on eBay and £87 for new bellows I had to fit myself). But hey once he has varnished them your great great grandchildren will be able to see who you were, and the image quality is out of this world far better than any modern digital. Just checked it out, (Pop-Up Tintype Studio from $100, or 3 for $200.)

The only power he needs is to run the flashes and I think he has a specific battery for the flashes. Everything else is just small battery powered LEDs
