Jobim has to be a challenge to make your own. His songs are built from sturdy blocks held together by that unvaried rhythm. The shape is always there because he's already carved away the bits that don't belong. So to improvise atop Jobim takes both a light touch and a brilliant mind like yours, Jacob, because you are inevitably adding to something that was already almost perfect.

Hi Joshi, the link is wrong but if you type "wave" you will find the real music sheet (Jakob Koller...). Love this arrangment as all the other ones from Jakob!!

Fantastic interpretation and arrangement, Jacob! :) I hate to be this guy, though... but that Bm7 before the Bb-A7-Dm cadence at the end of each A-section was supposed to be E7 (was grinding me a bit every time! xD)... It might've worked if you'd snuck in a II-V on that Bm7 so it at least goes through the E7... but for me that satisfyingly bright II chord needs to be there to set up the bluesy minor phrase ending. Still love it, though! (just my 2 cents-worth from the peanut gallery)

It kinda fits Jacob Koller's style. He puts so much emphasis on the bass voice, and having it descend chromatically from B-Bb-A each time seemed to work.

Hey Jacob, can you tell me why some of the notes and markings on your arrangements are colored red? I've seen it in a couple of your videos and have never puzzled out why.

I think it's his notation software showing a second voice in the bar (i.e. two independent lines, typically one with stems up and the other with stems down). My old-skool version of Sibelius defaults to green for the second voice, but only for the digital representation (to make it easier to tell what you're editing). It prints in all black; I assume Jacob's does as well.

Hi looking at your Christmas music for a piano student-I was wondering do you play to sell your Christmas Jazz Cafe in America? I would purchase if I could get it on sheetmusicplus or Amazon, but from Japan sheet music it would cost like $50 because of shipping 😂

I love Jacob a lot, but the heavy bass hitting and the big chunky chords destroyed the beautiful clean colourful palette of Bossa Nova. Less is more sometimes.
@Snug-the-Joiner3 ай бұрын
You can play for sure . . . but the overly aggressive base line makes it less of a Wave . . . more like a Russian Tank Attack. Wish you well.
